Chapter 20: The Auction's VIPs

   Today is February 12 of Year 781 of Felix Calendar. It is the 2nd day of bidding at the Golden Tree Auction House of Vegas City Caro Kingdom. On the first day of the auction, Allen and Gavin were unfortunate enough to not acquire any auction item.

Luckily enough, all of the items that were auctioned yesterday are normal items. As normal as those magic tools, items, historical relics, or even selling a magic beast's most precious body parts. None of those items interest Allen's desire to win any of them. So he and Gavin didn't raise their bidding cards to raise the prices.

However, even if none of the Sin Vessels were auctioned yesterday. Allen and Gavin attending the auction weren't useless.

It allows Allen and Gavin to learn so many things. The most important and obvious thing was that the Sin Vessels would likely be auctioned on the 2nd and 3rd day. The next thing was that the 1st day allowed Allen and Gavin to learn about the other participants in this auction.

Their identities and the most likely participants who would acquire those Sin Vessels. In the first auction, Allen and Gavin learned the VIPs of this auction. Their most likely targets of stealing if they failed to acquire the Sin Vessels themselves here because they would be outbid by someone.

The first important bidder is someone from the Paerun Kingdom. The Duke Rock Sekka as the Guardian Knight.

The 2nd VIP is from the Moguru Empire where the Church of the Sun God is located. The place that Allen is most wary of and would likely avoid as possible. The identity of that person is none other than the Imperial Prince Adin of that Empire.

The 3rd is from Whipper Kingdom which has currently civil unrest in their country. Allen and Gavin were unfamiliar with the person. The person wasn't a king or neither of his children. They spent some time investigating this person after the 1st auction. Allen and Gavin discovered that this person was Pister Kodiang. The Liege of the Magic Tower from Whipper Kingdom.

Allen wasn't familiar with Magic Towers so he let Gavin explain to him what are those things from the latter's knowledge after they discovered Pister Kodiang's identity.

The 4th was the 4th prince of the Breck Kingdom, Prince Pen. There wasn't much thing that Allen knew about him other than being the sibling of one of the most promising mages of this current generation, Princess Rosalyn.

And finally, from the Roan Kingdom, the respective 5th, 6th and 7th...

Eric Wheelsman, the son of Count Wheelsman, and Gilbert Chetter, the son of Baron Chetter. Both of them are Northeastern nobles who were allied to Henituse Household. The Northeastern Nobles Alliance is a group of nobles who don't support any of the princes and are in a neutral state when it comes to the politics of the Roan Kingdom.

As for the 7th, Allen shouldn't be surprised. He is the 3rd Prince of the Roan Kingdom, one of his older half-brothers. Allen originally heard the 3rd Prince mention the Golden Tree House Auction from him. Allen Eavesdropping from his talk with his older brother's noble friend who supports the 3rd Prince.

It wasn't farfetched that the 3rd Prince was knowledgeable about the Golden Tree House because he was a regular attendee himself of the said auction event.

Allen and Gavin arrived 30 minutes earlier before the 2nd auction at the Golden Tree House would start. They are sitting along with the other common bidders of the auction. They weren't separated from the others like those VIPs. However, some VIPs didn't abide by staying in the booth like Eric Wheelsman and Gilbert Chetter.

If Allen has to guess, just like the first day of the auction, they can't bother to spend more by staying in those VIP Booths. Among the VIPs, the two people who were currently sitting beside Allen and Gavin were the ones who had the least money to spend.

Staying as optimal as possible and avoiding spending their money. Only bid when they need it. On the first day, these two sons of nobles didn't raise their auction cards. Nothing appeared to gain their interest.

Eric Wheelsman nervously chuckled when he noticed one of the people sitting beside them was glancing at him and Gilbert.

The person has a very unique look and beauty to him. Appearing in the same age range as them. Maybe, the person was from the Eastern Continent? Long black hair tied into a single ponytail and striking purple eyes as if boring deep holes into himself.

It gives Eric Wheelsman shivers into his body.

Seeing Eric Wheelsman being assaulted by rude stares coming from one of the people sitting beside them, Gilbert glares.

" Have you got some common decency? "

' Ah.. '

Allen quickly averted his eyes from them. He doesn't want to draw attention. Gilbert huffed when he noticed Allen avert his gaze.

' Didn't have even the decency to apologize. Rude! '

Gilbert huffed before tapping into Eric Wheelsman's shoulder. Trying to help him calm down. From the state of the clothes of the two people beside their left side, the two people appear to be mercenaries.

Eventually, as more people arrived at the auction and the 30 minutes eventually passed, Soon, it became 3:00 in the afternoon. The time of the start of the auction.

The auctioneer and the assistants arrive. The former revealed a huge smile on his face.

" Welcome to the 2nd day of the Golden Tree Auction House! Today, we have more interesting things to offer than yesterday! For the first item in today's auction.... "

The two female assistants of the auction pushed a trolley and stopped in the middle front of the auction room.

Even without the item uncovered, Allen's attention was piqued the moment that Lady Marie Annette started whispering to him.

[ It's here. The first sin vessel in this place ]

Uncovering the item from the trolley, the assistants showed round and old damaged eyeglasses placed on a soft pillow.

" An ancient worn-around the edges eyeglasses! An old damaged relic that was said to enhance the eyesight's capabilities! The starting price is 10,000 gallons of Caro Kingdom! "

" 20,000! "

Eric Wheelsman raises his auction while calling out his price. Gilbert Chetter was looking at his friend in surprise and the other auctioneers at the common seats didn't appear to be interested in the item.

' Eric-nim? What are you doing? Aren't we here to prepare a gift for the King's 50th Birthday? '

While Gilbert was feeling frustrated, he was surprised when he saw the expression on Eric Wheelsman's face.

A look of fascination was currently on his face. It was an unfamiliar expression on his friend which made Gilbert uncomfortable. On the other hand, Allen narrowed his eyes glancing between Eric Wheelsman and the glasses which were confirmed to be a sin vessel.

[ Ah, that trash found a suitable victim to prey on! Even from far away, this weak human victim is already affected! ]

Allen was currently uncomfortable with the current situation. He was worried about what was happening between Eric Wheelsman and the eyeglasses right now.

With Basen, it took much time before the Devil of Self-Pity possessed and affected him.

But now...  It wasn't even half an hour or more than 10 minutes, but Eric Wheelsman is already affected even from far away.

[ Lady Pride... Can you tell me what is going on? Why is Eric Wheelsman already affected by that Devil? " ]
