Allagash, Maine -4:46 PM-

"You are not worth expending the energon."

The robot spoke.

She jumped when the voice reached her ears. It was so deep and monotone that Val could feel rumbling throughout her body despite its head being high above her.

The robot lowered its cannon and the barrel pointed to the floor. The purple light from inside the gun dimmed as the whirring sound coming from it slowly died out. Its shoulder slumped from the weight of the cannon, struggling to stand upright with its giant hole in its side.

It didn't address her for another second before turning and ducking back under the roof to leave the warehouse through the front. It was funny that it didn't want to damage the roof more than it already has with a new giant skylight. When the robot's eye stopped glaring down at her, she felt like she could finally breathe. She exhaled quietly to not draw its attention more than she already has. Her close brush with death had adrenaline speeding through her and trembling immensely.

It spared her. She was thankful enough that it didn't see to splattering her into the floor like a bug.

It didn't even take two steps before collapsing, its legs giving out under itself. The warehouse shook again when it fell to its knees. It audibly let out a groan as its body let out more uncomfortable sounds of it obviously being heavily damaged.

Was it in pain? She internally asked herself.

The more she watched this marvel of technology before her, a continuous plethora of questions flooded her mind. Now that it was awake, it displayed much more intelligence than what she assumed it would possess, but it didn't behave completely... robotic.

"What are you?" She said to herself as her wariness turned into awe, her breathy voice quivering from coming off of adrenaline.

She didn't realize she spoke aloud, as the robot's head reeled to her again. She flinched and instinctively put her hands up.

Her mouth moved without thought, feeling under pressure just by its judging eye alone. "I don't mean any harm. I was trying to fix you."

There was a pause as the robot stared at her. She looked back at its eye, not knowing where else to look but trying to hold her composure. She noticed the spikes on its head subtly twitch as it was carefully regarding her.

"Explain." It said with a threatening tone. She felt a chill shoot through her spine from its cold tone. Every time it spoke, it felt like the world around them froze as well.

Her words spilled out to not test this robot's patience in case it would lash out again. "I found you in the forest. Me and my friend brought you here so I could repair you but... I didn't have much luck. I can't do it alone, so I woke you up."

The robot turned away, "You are a human. It is illogical to assume you could remedy my wounds." It spit out the word 'human' distastefully. Wasn't it created by humans?

It continued crawling toward the warehouse door, struggling due to it only having one hand and one long cannon for an arm. She stood in her confusion of its words, absentmindedly staring at this robot dragging its body forward. A flash of blue caused her to blink and caught her attention. More of that glowing blue ooze seeped out of the cracks of its body. It dribbled onto the floor and puddles were left in its wake. Val felt a pang of empathy in her chest for this robot. It was alive, sentient, and it didn't want to die here.

Val cleared her throat, "Y'know...The more you move, the more you lose that blue stuff and tear open the leaks I already welded."

The sound of metal scraping against gravel stopped. The robot's head slowly looked over its shoulder at Val. It didn't speak or move, only its head subtly tilted to the side.
