After completing many orders at her family's bakery, Daisy needed a break. She walked to the back room of the bakery for a much needed break. Her mother took over the orders. She sat down on the chair beside the table. She grabbed the pitcher filled with water and poured it in the glass until it almost reached the top. Daisy took a sip and her father walked into the room.
"Taking a break, I see." Thomas mentioned.
Daisy nodded her head. "Yes, I needed it. Since this morning, I could swear the orders have not stopped."
"Well, that is the price of having your own business. You don't get to pick how busy you will be."
Daisy chuckled and sarcastically replied. "Oh and here I thought we could do whatever we pleased. Isn't that the point of having your own business?"
"In a perfect world, yes we could do whatever we wish. In this world, we have to do our jobs." Her father said. "Daisy, your sarcasm is a double-edged sword."
"What do you mean?" Daisy got curious.
"Well, there's nothing wrong with having a sense of humor, but there's also a downside to it." Her father mentioned.
"The downside is..." Daisy encouraged him to finish his thought.
"This trait of yours isn't a benefit which will help you later on in life." He added.
"I'm stumped. What are you trying to say?" Daisy asked.
"Your personality isn't really attracting the male crowd your way. You're at the age in which girls have married and have children. It's not very lady-like. Your mother and I have been discussing lately about how we can help you and also how to save our bakery."
"What's wrong with the bakery and why do I need help?" Daisy asked.
"The last six months have not been so wonderful regarding how much we have earned. We could lose the bakery, but we came up with a solution that will benefit us and you as well. You know the Morgans?" Thomas asked.
"You mean the richest family in Londinium, of course I know them. If you don't know them, you've probably lived in a cave." Daisy smirked.
"Anyway, they've agreed to help us out." Thomas said.
"How are the Morgans going to help me?" She asked.
"They've agreed to get us out of debt and you have to marry Oliver, their youngest son. He's around your age. He has a good job, so he'll give you a comfortable life. You may not even have to work." He explained.
