Y/N pov
After a long and tiring day at work, I found myself in the kitchen, attempting to prepare dinner. Cooking was not exactly my strong suit, but I had managed to grasp a few basic recipes over time, driven by my desire to provide for my loved ones. Despite my insistence that he didn't need to, Appa had taken it upon himself to help, deftly chopping vegetables and preparing the meat. Meanwhile, Joon oppa was conspicuously absent from the kitchen, immersed in his world of lyric-writing, as was often the case.
While I focused on the sizzling pan, a sudden knock at the door grabbed my attention. I had been anticipating Taehyung's arrival since he had mentioned he'd be running late today. However, instead of just Taehyung, it was Taehyung and Kookie, drenched and covered in beach sand. Confusion and concern welled up inside me, and I couldn't resist asking, "What happened, and why are you two such a mess?"
The two friends exchanged glances, silently urging each other to explain. Finally, Taehyung stepped forward and said, "We were out practicing Taekwondo at the beach."
Furrowing my brows, I struggled to make sense of this odd choice. "Practicing Taekwondo at the beach? That's an unusual choice. Why?" I inquired, searching for some clarity.
Uncertain of how to proceed, Taehyung and Kookie exchanged nervous glances, silently debating who should elucidate. Their eyes met, and suddenly, they embarked on a playful dispute, each vying to narrate their version of the story, as if trying to outdo each other.
Jungkook insisted, "Tae-hyung, you tell noona, you started it!"
Taehyung retorted, "No, Kookie, it was your fault, and you know it!"
Their argument escalated until Jungkook finally interjected, "Okay, fine. We weren't just practicing. We actually got into a fight, noona."
Jungkook shrugged and admitted, "Well, it began as practice, but then things got a bit out of hand, and we ended up having a fight." I let out a sigh and shook my head, exclaiming, "Boys, sometimes I just can't understand you. Now, go clean up."
After they cleaned up, I examined their minor wounds and carefully applied band-aids, causing them to wince as the alcohol stung their injuries. I scolded them, saying, "You really need to be more careful, especially with each other. And why fight with each other?"
Uncle chimed in, "Well, these two have always had a knack for getting into trouble, you know. It's almost a talent."
Kookie chuckled while Taehyung grinned, but they didn't offer much of an explanation. They both knew they were in for a lecture. Uncle examined their wounds and remarked, "These are not as bad as you make them out to be. You guys always make a big fuss over these things."
Just then, Joon oppa emerged from his room. He, too, examined their injuries and commented, "Seems like you both survived a minor scuffle. Just a scratch." I was a bit taken aback by their nonchalant responses, but I realized that such incidents were somewhat usual for them.
Suddenly, Jungkook's stomach growled, catching everyone's attention. "Come on, let's go and have dinner," I called out. "No, noona, I'll eat another day. I'm leaving," Jungkook said, standing in the doorway of the guest room. Raising an eyebrow, I questioned his abrupt departure, but he simply shrugged.
I turned towards Taehyung and urged him, "Taehyung, find out what's wrong with him." However, Taehyung remained silent. With a sigh, I looked at both of them and said, "So, you both won't speak? Fine." I decided to take matters into my own hands and went towards Jungkook, playfully tugging him with me. He was strong, making it a challenging task, but I managed to lead him to the dining area. "Kookie, what are you, a toddler? Come on, don't be so stubborn." After some persuasion, he finally walked with me to the table.
Observing that Taehyung hadn't arrived yet, I called out, "Taehyung, I'm tired, so come by yourself. I guess I don't have to drag you too." After a while, he joined us, and they exchanged glances, dramatically turning their heads away. Despite the initial tension, the atmosphere lightened, and we shared stories and laughter as we always did, although Taehyung and Jungkook remained relatively quiet throughout the meal.
After dinner, I offered Jungkook the option to stay the night, but he politely declined, choosing to return home. It was evident that he might be harboring some frustration towards Taehyung. With the day's events behind us, everyone headed to bed.
In the stillness of the night, I found myself nestled in Taehyung's arms, struggling to shake off the confusion of why they had fought in the first place. Sensing my unease, Taehyung gently reassured me, "Don't worry, Y/N. It was just a petty fight. We'll make up soon."
With that comforting thought, we both drifted off to sleep.
Next day morning
Y/N POV
Today is our day off, provided a rare opportunity for relaxation and quality time together. After a leisurely breakfast, we found ourselves in our room, a cozy sanctuary. However, a persistent curiosity nagged at me, pushing me to ask a question that had lingered in my mind for a while.
"Taehyung," I began, looking into his eyes, "are you still having those dreams about my past?"
Taehyung's expression shifted, reflecting a mix of emotions as he thought about my question. With a sigh, he nodded and said, "Yes, jagiya, those dreams haven't stopped. I still see glimpses of your past in my dreams."
I couldn't help but wonder which episode from my tumultuous past had visited him in his sleep recently. "Can you tell me about the most recent one? What did you see this time?" I inquired, wanting to understand the details of the haunting memories that continued to resurface.
Taehyung took a deep breath and began, "In the dream, I saw you desperately trying to escape from that old house where your brother held you captive. You were brave, Y/N, but it was heart-wrenching to watch."
My heart sank at the mention of that particular incident, a painful chapter from my past. Taehyung's dreams often provided him with a window into my darkest moments. Yet, he handled it with sensitivity and understanding, which I cherished.
Tears welled up in my eyes as the painful memories flooded back. "I thought I had put all that behind me," I admitted, wiping away a tear.
Taehyung gently held my hand. "I know, Y/N, but these dreams remind me of your strength and resilience. They also remind me how far we've come together."
"Thank you, Taehyung," I said, my voice filled with emotion. Taehyung smiled, his eyes reflecting a mixture of love and determination. "Y/N, I'll always be by your side, no matter what. We'll face your past together and build a beautiful future."
Feeling a deep connection and gratitude, I intertwined my fingers with his. He gently lifted our intertwined hands to his lips and placed a soft, lingering kiss on the back of my hand. This gesture conveyed the unspoken promise that we'd always be there for each other, even in the face of haunting memories.
