Mortals Meet Demigods

Carson Cyber

Carson was a troublemaker, and everyone knew it.

He would skip class and get detention for small things, but they became big in the end.

But it's the summer now, and now everyone's free to whatever they choose.

Nobody can take summer school, since it's a fairly small area, and no teachers want to teach it. Everyone had a pretty good education, as well.

For the summer, most kids would hang out with friends and go to the pool and slumber parties and stuff.

But not Carson. He had only a couple friends, Max and Gilly, and he wasn't the social type.

Gilly was off at summer camp and Max was at his grandma's for the first week, anyways.

Here's how Carson's first day of summer went, from his POV:

I sat at the park, the only park in the town.

Our town was a pretty small town. Two department stores, two grocery stores, one elementary, middle, and high school, a music store that taught lessons, one park with a playground, and two small neighborhoods. And maybe throw some occasional lemonade stands here and there, from little kids trying to earn an extra buck to buy a bag of pretzels or chips from one of the park vending machines.

My town was pretty much, as they say stereotypically, Nowheresville USA.

I was sitting on a park bench, watching the kids play on the playground, snickering to myself about the terrified parents of the 4 year and younger kids.

My friends were off doing things for the first week, so I had some alone time. Not that I wasn't used to it.

I pulled out my phone, a large-ish smartphone, and checked the time. 10:58. I had time.

I had brought my guitar, which I had been taking lessons on for a while.

I started playing, mostly just chords.

As I kept going, it turned more into a song.

I finish, write down what I've finished.

I decide to just sit and watch everyone having their fun.

I see a family with a little kid. Two adult men and a child. I can tell they are a family based on how they act towards each other.

One of the adults has black hair and mostly black clothes. The other one has blond hair and is wearing a yellow shirt and jeans.

The kid is a girl. She has black hair in two little pigtails, and is wearing overalls with a black shirt on under them. She was probably adopted, if I had to guess.

I hadn't seen them before in town, so I was guessing that they were visiting family.

After staying there for a little bit longer, I made sure I had all my stuff.

I walked out, but not before looking over at the family once more. They looked so happy.

That makes me happy.

This chapter was a little different, but I kind of like it. He doesn't technically meet them, which is different.

The people are Nico, Will, and an adopted daughter.
