(Chapter 5) Halloween

October is here, which means it's officially Spooky Season. It's time to dust off the cobwebs, carve the pumpkins, and embrace the spine-tingling thrills that only this time of year can bring. From haunted houses to horror movie marathons, and ghost stories whispered around a flickering candle.

Hevania Magic Academy (Lunch)
4th Period

"Hey look at this." Lizi said. "Someone found a wendigo in the woods." Isaiah said. "People still believe in that?" Sailie asked. Jack and the shadows look at Sailie with a confused expression. "That's been a trend for 2 weeks. Besides, I think it's just a teaser for the hallowed carnival." Sailie said. "Well, who's excited for the quiz?" Alana asked. "What?" Jack asked confused. "You know The quiz. Basically, in the second semester, you answer questions based on personality traits. The symbol of your weapon is based on your characteristics." Alana explained. "That's interesting but also..." Jack said pulling out a birthday hat. "It's your birthday?" Lizi asked. "It is my birthday." Jack said. "Happy birthday man." Isaiah said. "I was planning on going to the hallowed carnival with y'all this weekend." Jack said. "Oh, you got the tickets?" Alana said. "Yup." Jack said showing 4 tickets.

The Hallowed Carnival

The Hallowed Carnival began and everyone gathered in. During this time of year, the hallowed carnival is a popular destination for everyone in the netherworld that takes place in October during the spooky season. There is a lot to enjoy and be a part of such as the best attraction called "Scare Fest". Jack went with his shadow friends. "Enter scare-fest." The Host of The Attraction said. They've all entered and had the time of their lives.

"Where are we?" Alana asked. The group stands in the middle of the forest. Lizi then spotted a figure at the end of the woods. "IS THAT A DEMONIC OPIUM BIRD?!" Lizi asked. The creature squawked and roared and flew towards them to attack as the group started running. Then they've entered a haunted mansion. "Oh wow. Is this an escape room?" Isaiah asked. An arm popped out the wall jumpscaring Lizi. Isaiah caught Lizi from falling out of fear. The hand dropped a note with a phone number on it. Alana puts in the phone number and calls it on the telephone. A creepy voice answered the phone saying "I know where you live." Alana hung up the phone but the next thing you know, Everyone was in the woods again. They spotted The trending Wendigo in the distance. Isaiah took a picture of it. The camera flash startled the wendigo. "Why was your flash on?" Lizi whispered to not disturb the wendigo but also panicking. The wendigo started crawling on all fours to chase them down. "RUN!!" Jack shouted. They ran out of the attraction completely scared and satisfied. "That was scary!!" Jack said laughing it off.

The Hallowed Carnival (The Mall)

"Selling figurines of the screaming man on the spooky discount, 20% off." A salesman said. "Oh, I've always wanted one." Lizi said buying one. "You fill it with water. The water turns red. Press the button and it will scream spilling out blood from his face." Jack said. Lizi pulls out a water bottle from her backpack, Fills the toy with it, And presses the button. The toy makes a screaming sound and the blood-like water spills but later explodes in everyone's faces due to a malfunction. "I think it's broken." Alana said. Later, They went to a food court and ordered a fresh batch of fast food. "This is good." Alana said. "I heard it's the best in the land." Jack said. "Ok. Today was fun but I'm going home." Jack said. "OK bye. See ya at school." Lizi said.

Hevania Magic Academy (Potions)
Period 2

Jack and the shadows have this class together. The teacher assigned the class to make a potion that can change the color of your hair. Jack, Alana, Lizi, and Isaiah were all in one group. "Ok so first off.." Jack was interrupted by a potion bottle being thrown at him by Peyton. Jack slowly turned around. "What exactly were you trying to gain from that?" Jack asked. "A sense that you know whose territory you're in." Peyton said. Jack turned back around and Alana rubbed his back to comfort him. "All of this over being class president, what a fucking joke." Jack said silently to himself. "How did she even get that position to begin with?" Isaiah asked. "Either she charmed her way through the process or..." Alana said. "She rigged it." Lizi said finishing Alana's sentence. "What?" Jack asked. "It's rigged. The principal's family was on the line all because she wanted a kingdom. Little miss daughter of the head of the moonlight clan." Lizi said. "I keep hearing about that, what is the Moonlight clan?" Jack asked. "One of the most elite." Alana said. "Top of the top." Isaiah said. "Famous and Greatest clans of all of the netherworld." Lizi said. "Oh. I see where Peyton got her ego from then." Jack said.

Dismissal

The principal goes on the intercom of the school. "Attention students, it is time for the annual weapon of choice quiz. As always the location of where you take this quiz is optional. Rather it is at home or school. Take the test smoothly and carefully. And remember that you get what you get and you do not get upset. Good luck." He said. "You can take this quiz at home?" Jack asked. "Yeah." Lizi said. "But I'd rather take it here because I love the library." Alana said. "The library at the school or somewhere else?" Isaiah asked. "The school dummy." Alana said. "Speaking of love." Jack said as he saw Kyria. She jumps into Jack's arms for a hug. "Hi!!" Kyria said very happily. "Hey. You're the happiest you've been since... forever." Jack said. "Yea. Because being with you gives me something to live for." Kyria said. "That's sweet." Alana said. "Me and Lizi are taking the quiz at home." Isaiah said. "You fucking introvert." Alana said. "I'm not taking chances." Isaiah said. "Well in that case." Jack said as he began to walk away to go home.

Sailie got a staff and Jack got nothing. He was conflicted for the rest of the time and began overthinking, believing that all he'd been through was a waste of time.
