Bruce's POV:

We stayed over night at the base and sort of gave up taking Ace to school for a while. As dangerous as it was for her to be there, we had work to do.  When I woke up, I walked down the hall to Acadia's room, where she sat up in her bed.

"Morning angel." I said, a smile on my face as I kissed her forehead. My smile morphed into a frown.

"You're burning up." I placed a hand on her forehead, which was incredibly hot.

"I don't feel good, Daddy." She said, leaning into my side. I stroked her hair.

"You've got a fever. You need to rest. Are you thirsty or anything?" I asked.  Ace shook her head. I pulled her blankets up over her and shut off her light.

"I'll leave your door open. Call me if you need anything, okay?" I stepped out of her room  and into the common room, where Steve and Thor sat.

"Morning Banner." Steve said, smiling. I sat down on the couch.

"Acadia's sick. She has a really bad fever." I said, sighing.

"The mid guardian girl is ill?" Thor inquired. I nodded

"Yeah. Ive gotta take care of her today. Can you tell Fury?" I asked them. Steve nodded.

"I will. If you need me to watch her for a bit I will."  I thanked him and stood up.

"Daddy!" I heard Ace wail. I hurried into her room.

"Are you okay?!" I asked.

"I think I'm going to be sick." She said, standing up on wobbly legs. I hurried her into the bathroom and she indeed was sick. Ace washed her face, then turned to me, eyes brimming with tears. I hugged her close and soothed her.

"You're okay, Ace. Everything's okay." I gently rocked her back and forth. It was going to be a long day.
