STEVE'S POV
I felt pretty bad for Ace. Poor girl must have been sick out of her mind. She seemed fine the day before, and it almost made me wonder what suddenly made her so sick. I was no doctor, but I didn't think that it was normal for her to suddenly be so sick. Bruce returned to the living room where I sat, watching a baseball game.
“Hey Banner, how's Acadia? Is she feeling any better?” I asked, turning to face him. He looked exhausted.
“No, if anything she's feeling worse. It's unusual, really. All of a sudden she's got pneumonia.” Bruce sighed and furrowed his brow, deep in thought about possible diagnosis. He got up and went into his room, returning wearing glasses and carrying a massive book.
“What is that?” I asked, sitting up straighter.
“It's a medical book. I'm looking through it to identify her symptoms.” He stared and stared at that book, continuing to search through it for what must have been hours. Bruce finally let out a sound of frustration and shut the book. I looked over at him from the newspaper I had begun to read.
“What is it? Do we know what's wrong?” I asked, setting down the newspaper back on the table. Bruce shook his head and got up to go check on her. I followed him, hoping maybe I could help in some way. But there was Acadia, little Acadia Rose, laying in her bed looking sick as a dog. Something wasn't right, I could tell by the look of utter panic on Banner's face. Upon closer inspection, I saw that Ace wasn't just pale, she was gaunt and almost looked grey. Her breathing was shallow and she was shaking, and I could see that Bruce looked about ready to scream. I turned to him, completely confused.
“Bruce, what is this? Something's not right.” Bruce shook his head, not knowing what to say to me. Thor stepped into the room and looked instantly shocked. We both turned to him, looking for an answer.
“This isn't possible. This.. This sickness is something of Asgard. This can't be fixed in your realm.”
