Ash POV:

"Captain, we are arriving in Port Ember. The girl will be back on board before the day ends." I turned to face my second in command, Troy.

"Good. Make sure the ship is hidden."

"Yes sir. Are we taking the girl right away?" I looked out to the sea, thinking about his question.

"No. We might as well have some with it." Troy nodded and turned to return to the wheel. I walked into my cabin, shutting the door behind me. I sat at my desk and poured some rum as I rummaged through some letters. After a while I finally located the one from over a year ago that I was looking for. I sighed and ran my hand through my hair as I unfolded it.

Captain Ash,

I have asked you to apprehend the girl, so naturally receiving your letter was very disappointing. I told you to get her as soon as possible. It's upsetting to me to learn that you had her on your vessel but let her go. I don't care that you think she's not ready. Do I need to remind you that you are being paid to bring the girl to me? She is important in the way the future will play out and I need her before someone else realizes this as well. But seeing that I'm an understanding man, I will grant you a year and a half before I need her. Don't question why I gave this specific time, just obey me. If you fail again, Ash, there will be consequences far greater than not getting your money. Do not fail me again. You already know what I am capable of. Don't make someone else suffer from your mistakes.

I downed my rum and walked back up to the deck.

"Land ahead!" I heard my lookout yell. I grinned at the familiar sight in front of me. Port Ember.

"You ready to finally get this wench?" Troy slapped my back as he walked to stand next to me.

"Hell yeah! This has been going on far too long. It's time to get our money and move on."

"Why didn't take her two years ago, Ash? We had her on this very deck. We could've been done long ago. Why did you wait?" "

I don't know." I sighed. "Maybe it was because she looked so young. Maybe it was because that wasn't the way I wanted to take her. I don't know man. All I know is that we will get her tonight."

"Finally. How are you going to do it? You know, kidnap her."

"I was thinking something along the lines of freaking her out. But I'm not sure how to go about it." We stood there leaning on the rail thinking when Troy stood straight up with a smirk on his face.

"I've got it."

Troy and I got off out row boat and drug it into the sand. We had the girls dress in hand, ready to harass her. We were making our way up the beach when we heard what sounded to be a scream. Troy looked at me and I gave him the signal to crouch down. We hid behind some brush as we moved closer to the noise. To our surprise, we found a man stalking towards the water with a girl slung over his shoulder.

"Who would be out this early?" Troy asked. I just shrugged my shoulders and shifted to stand up.

"Daniel stop! Please don't! I'm sorry!" I stopped dead in my tracks and whipped around.
