Daniel POV:

I walked the familiar hallway to Emery's room, practically skipping from excitement. It has finally happened. She has agreed to run away with me. I know she said that we would elope, but I can still hope, can't I? I feel so secure when she is around me. She's like a candle in a window on a cold dark winter's night.

That night when she fell was the worst moment of my entire life. Her face looked so terrified, and I couldn't do anything but watch her fall. I remember searching for her all night and into the morning. The men wanted to go back and rest, but I wouldn't give up so easily. I kept looking into the early morning hours. I was about to go and rest when I heard the snap of branches. As if some miracle, she stumbled into my sight.

I knew at that moment that I couldn't live without her. She is my everything. And now, we will be together for the rest of our happy lives. I approached her door and tried to open it, only to find that it was locked. I knocked, but there was no answer. This was strange, she never locked her door. After a few more tries at knocking I decided that something was very wrong. I kicked the door open only to find a very horrifying sight.

Her room was an utter mess. Her furniture was tipped over . Her bed was messy and blankets were thrown everywhere. My eyes found the Duke slumped in the corner. But more importantly, there was no sign of Emery. I ran over to the Duke and shook him violently.

"Tristan! Tristan wake up now." He didn't budge, no matter how much I shook him. "I'm going to enjoy this." I mumbled as I slapped him across his already bruised and broken face. He shot up and looked around frantically.

"Where is he? I'll kill that bastard, I'll kill him." Before he could move I had pinned him against the wall.

"Tristan, where is Emery?" His face quickly hardened and he seemed to be thinking frantically about something.

"I came in here to check on her but when I opened the door, there was a man trying to drag her out the window. I tried to fight him the best I could, but there were ten of them. I was outnumbered. They took her." I could feel my blood boil with rage. I didn't have to guess who 'they' were. How could I have been so stupid? I shouldn't have left her out of my sight, especially after what she told me this morning and the messages. Before I could stop myself I screamed as loud as I could and punched the wall, leaving a hole. I didn't care though. Not even a minute later, Mary came waddling in.

"Oh my! What happened here?" She took in the mess, upset at all the cleaning that was in need. If only she knew that this wasn't even the beginning.

"Where's Miss Emery?" Her eyes scanned to room, soon landing on the Duke. "Good heavens, what happened to you?" She asked as she moved to help him up and onto the bed.

"Emery's been kidnapped." I growled. Mary's head whipped around and stared at me.

"What?"

"Emery has been taken. By pirates." That's all that was needed to be said to make a foreign noise slide out of her mouth. She sunk to the floor and took her head in her hands as she started crying, or howling. I'm not sure what exactly that noise was. I walked over to and lifted her up, drawing her into a hug.

"Mary, I need you to calm down for me." I chocked, holding back tears of my own. "Now, please alert the Duke and Duchess. They need to know that their daughter is gone. They will know what to do. Oh, and take him to the doctor. He needs immediate attention." She nodded as she wiped the tears from under her eyes. She walked to the bed and put one of the Dukes arms around her shoulder, supporting his weight as they walked.

Once they were gone, I investigated the room. It wasn't long before I found a strange vial of what I assumed contained drugs, which means she was most likely knocked out. At least know I know she wasn't having to watch as she was being dragged away from her home. Away from me. After five minutes, I realized that the only way for them to get out without being seen was the window. I quickly swung over the ledge and climbed down to the ground. I started sprinting to the beach, knowing that's where they would be. I was there in under a minute and began scanning the blue water.

The stars danced in the sky, giving me a dim light. It was enough to see that there were no ships out. I felt a sharp pain in my heart as I realized that she was gone. I let out another agonizing scream as I fell to my knees. Warm tears dripped from my eyes, instantly making me feel foolish. But I didn't care. All I cared about was Emery. I will find her. If it's the last thing I do. My sadness was replaced by anger and passion. I stood up and stalked back up to Emery's house, with a plan in mind. Before I walked inside I turned to look at the glistening water one last time "I will find you Emery. Always."
