Ash POV

Who does he think he is? I practically saved him from the cold hands of death and this is how he repays me? I slammed the door shut to my cabin and punched it till my hand was bleeding even more then it was before. Once I calmed down I went to my desk and grabbed a bottle of rum, drinking it all in one chug. Once I got the last drop out of it I threw it against the wall, watching as it shattered into many pieces. I quickly grabbed another bottle before sitting down at my desk. My hands grabbed a blank piece of paper while I dipped my pen in ink.

We have her and are on our way to bring her to you. I expect full payment as soon as the wench is in your hands.

I paused and rubbed my eyes, feeling the pain creep up into me.

Also I demand Laurens body. You owe me that.

My heart felt like it was on fire. I shoved myself up and finished the last of the bottle. Rum was the only thing that didn’t anger me these days.  I walked to my bed and fell on it. I couldn’t help but see the face of my beautiful Lauren before I drifted to sleep.

I was awoken by a faint knock on the door. I groaned as I rolled over, burying my face into my pillow. The door slowly creaked open before I felt a small dip in my bed. Before I could roll over a warm hand pressed its hand to my bare back causing me to shiver in response. I rolled over to find the face I’ve dreamed about so many times before.

“Emery? What are you doing here?” She climbed on top of me and looked me deep in the eyes before leaning down and pressing her soft lips to mine. My hand moved to the back of her neck as I deepened the kiss. In one swift movement I flipped us over so she was under me. My teeth nibbled on her lower lip asking for entrance which she granted. Her hands ran down my chest causing me to moan lustfully. I pulled back looking into her rare violet eyes.

“I’m sorry.” Suddenly the door slammed open and Jenkins came running in.

“Damn it Jenkins can’t you see I’m busy?”

“Captain its Troy.”

“What about him?”

“He’s dead.” Jenkins then turned and ran back out. My chest felt like it had been smashed into little pieces. My best friend was dead, and the last thing I did was beat him. I turned back to Emery to find her facing away from me. He shoulders were moving like she was crying so I moved to comfort her. But when I got closer I found that she wasn’t crying, but laughing.

Rage consumed me as I pulled her around to find her eyes completely black. I stumbled back as she stood up off the bed.

“I warned you.” A deep voice mixed with hers came flowing out of her mouth. “You are not to touch the girl. And you are not to fail me. I need Emery by my side. She is the key. If you fail, the people closest to you will die. Don’t make what happened to Lauren a common occurrence. You have six months to bring her to me. Trust me, you will not want her after that deadline.”

A loud knock on my door made me spring up. I was drenched in sweat and had a pounding headache.

“Come in.” I growled.

“Captain we are almost at Port Toria.” Jenkins said as he walked in. I rubbed my fingers against my temple trying to sooth the throbbing in my head.

“Alright. We will stay docked there for two days. Get all the supplies you can get your hand on. I don’t wish to stop again unless it’s absolutely unavoidable.”

“Yes Captain.” He turned back around and made his way out of my room.

“Jenkins.” I called him back.

“Yes Captain?” He said from the doorway.

“How is Troy?” “Fine I guess.” I sighed in relief.

“One more thing. Have that letter sent off immediately.” I said pointing to my desk. He nodded and moved to grab before he walked back out the door. Once he shut the door I rubbed my hands down my face and through my damp hair. It was only a dream. The man who had single handed ruined my life has found away into my head. I just sat there for a while before finally knowing what I had to do. I got off the bed and walked out my door and down the hall to her room. I threw it open only to find her standing in front of her desk studying everything very closely.

“You should really learn to knock.” She said, not even turning to face me. “One of these days you’re going to walk in on something you won’t like.” I watched her as she wondered back to her bed and turned to face me. "So Captain, what can I do for you?"
