They separated them.

Separating people when questioning or gathering personal information was likely standard protocol, but Ullr was against the idea.

He thrashed, snarled, threatened. Selene knew his behaviour was driven by his need to protect her, not his fear of being left alone. Ullr likely felt that if he couldn't see her, she was gone.

The officers were considerably concerned when the gargantuan Nord snapped his handcuffs.

Selene's hands rested on the table. Her handcuffs were readjusted to be in front of her as they took fingerprint and face scans to recognize her on their systems. Of course, as Goddess, she knew she wouldn't be on there.

The woman fidgeted with the ring on her ring finger absentmindedly. She was adamant about keeping it on- mainly because she didn't trust them.

She was only in her white knitted sweater and tan trousers. Her winter jacket and cloak were taken to be searched—they were likely stuffed in her backpack somewhere.

"Is that man related to you?" The male officer who cuffed her asked, "He seems protective."

He had blonde hair shaven into a buzz cut without his helmet gear. His brows were bushy, and his eyes were dark olive.

Her lips uplifted in a smile she couldn't fight off. "He's my husband," she told him proudly. "A man like him loathes being controlled."

He uplifted a brow, "For a man who doesn't like being controlled... he is pretty damn easily manipulated by his wife."

That isn't a very kind thing to say.

Selene thought momentarily, gazing at the table and rubbing her hands against its smooth surface before giggling and quipping back, "He listens to people he respects."

Not registering the implications of what she said, the officer nodded and pulled out a notepad and pen. "Now—your name?"

"Selene!" She beamed.

He slowly nodded, "Your last name?"

There was a heavy silence between them. She didn't have a last name.

Selene hummed in realization. She was so old, practically ancient, that she came from a time when last names weren't a thing. When a child was born, they were given a name, the only name they had.

There were no last names or middle names... why would you need to get so complicated?

"I don't have one." She told him.

The blonde pursed his lips thoughtfully and tapped his blue pen on the table before sighing, "You're not lying to me?"

Selene shook her head, "No, sir!" She smiled kindly.
