She was finally awake.

The pale Goddess was lying on her side, head against a plush pillow, and blankets pulled over her shoulder. She wore an oversized tunic smelling of Ullr and a pair of panties. Her long white hair was wrapped in a messy Dutch braid.

Last she checked... she didn't change herself.

Shifting in the bed, the woman turned her head to the other side. A large white canine was sprawled out, her paws and nose twitching as her mind galloped with pleasant dreams.

The moon's light gazed through the tall windows, peaking over the shadows of Selene's body to lighten Luna.

Slowly moving her legs to the edge, she sat on the mattress. The large blanket slinked off her body, letting the moon's light gaze upon her pale body. The tunic didn't do much in terms of covering her breasts, but it was comfortable to sleep in.

Slipping out of the bed, she noticed her bedroom was the guest bedroom.

The floors were squeaky clean, and she could smell the subtle lavender cleaning product. However, her husband's scent stood out.

Rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes with her fists, she blinked rapidly to adjust to the moon's bright light.

A gentle night breeze swept through the room. The sliding glass door was agape, curtains pulled back, and the giant shadow of her husband stood on the patio. He only wore dark brown trousers, and his muscular back was devoid of injury or stitches.

One hand was stuffed in his pocket, and the other held something. From this angle, it was hard to tell.

Memories were pouring into her mind left and right- leaving her heart aching painfully.

Every day in that dungeon, Selene daydreamed about seeing her husband. She would curl up against Luna, dreaming of his protective embrace and salivating at the thoughts of his excellent dinners.

She never wanted to be apart from him. Every day, she blamed herself for trusting Signey for even a second... because it led to so much pain.

Her legs were shaky, her knees on the brink of collapse. Tears welled up in her eyes before breaking over the bowl of her eyelid like a shattering dam- wetting her cheeks and dripping from her jaw.

With every step toward the patio, her heart ached more and more.

Taking a step onto the wood floor outside made a brief creak in response to her weight. Ullr raised his head and looked behind him, eyes alert.

In his right hand was a bottle of Aquavit. How did she know? It was his favourite from his time of mortality.

"Selene-" His eyes widened at the sight of his downtrodden wife.

Setting the glass on a small round table nearby, he hurriedly rushed to wrap his strong arms around her plush body. She nearly fell to the ground, losing all strength in her legs. Selene knew she could rely on him to keep her upright.
