She struggles to sleep well, flitting between dreams and nightmares.

Maybe she woke up because she knew something was wrong... Or maybe she just got lucky.

Selene's husband lay on the left side of the bed, sprawled out with his dark brown hair messily wrapped in a large man bun. He only wore his boxer briefs, the blanket covering his lower torso, and his tattoo and hair-covered chest were fully exposed.

Wearing Ullr's tunic, she scratched her thigh and shifted under the blanket.

A gross smell was coming through the open sliding door. It stunk like a rotting carcass- and despite the subtle smell, it was sickening.

Perhaps it was a skunk.

Whatever it was- she wouldn't be able to sleep with the stench.

Sliding out of bed, the moonlight gazing through the tall windows guided her to the open sliding door. They kept it open at night to circulate cold air through the room despite Ullr not being too thrilled about it.

But Lucifer's mansion was on a large property constantly patrolled by werewolves, so he wasn't as wary.

She stopped at the light rumble from the far wall as she walked through the room.

Turning, Selene couldn't help but smile at the sight of a large white wolf sprawled out on the wooden floor. Her back was pressed against the wall, her legs and nose twitching as she had her puppy dreams.

Taking the sliding door handle, she turned her gaze to the porch lit by moonlight.

It was foul. It was disgusting. It was revolting.

A white-tail doe was in the middle of the porch. Her face was frozen in horror, jaw agape, and eyes glassy. Lying on her side, her legs were spread, and her stomach looked as if it had exploded.

Her intestines were ripped out of her stomach and trailed down the steps of the porch, ending up in the grass.

Selene lightly gasped and covered her mouth with both hands. Her eyes began to water from the overwhelming aroma of death and feces. With parts of the intestines ripped open, poop that hadn't been fully digested was leaking out.

There was breathing.

Her gaze was so frozen on the body that she took a minute to finally look up at the figure standing a few feet from the porch.

Despite everything, Argus was hunched over in the grass.

His stomach and chest, not covered in fur, were greenish-pale and heavily bloated. Whenever a breath left him, it sounded like he was gargling on water.

Feces was leaking out from him, his intestines likely waterlogged or blown out from being drowned.

He was a literal corpse.
