29; the fight scene(part 2)

Summary; Theo takes Liam in his truck somewhere.

Before Theo was going to push Gabe even harder against the already cracked mirror, blood seeping through the cracks, he found himself saving the beta from falling to the ground, to avoid getting a concussion, even though a werewolf like Liam would be fine. It appeared that Liam was just so exhausted still, that he used all of his energy, his last energy on finding Theo. To stop him from doing something he would regret.

"What's wrong?" Theo asked, trying to get Liam to his feet.

"Just tired." Liam whispered with another weak smile.

"Come on, I'm getting you home." Theo said, taking Liam out of the locker room but not before he glanced at Gabe and saying "I am not done with you." His voice sounded angered, revengeful as he pointed at the human.

Theo helped Liam get in the truck despite the younger boy's struggles against the chimera. Liam felt weak, useless, helpless. He hated that people literally had to help him, he hated asking for help, but he liked helping people. 

"Thanks, T, but I can handle myself." Liam said as he pushed Theo away. The chimera's fingers accidentally grazed against Liam's arm, but like what he always did when he felt embarrassed or threatened, he ignored it and kept silent while walking to the driver's side of his truck.

Almost the whole ride to the Dunbar household was silent. Liam didn't like silence that much, Theo on the contrary, loved the silence more than anything. He was always alone, so the lonelier he got the more he found peace and comfort in the silence. Liam on the other hand, would do anything to avoid silence, darkness, loneliness. He always had someone around him; he knew Mason for a very long time now so he could go to him when he felt alone. Or he could go to Hayden when they were together, but that changed when she ran away with her sister to safety, so in that time he was crying over his first love, he felt lonely, alone. But suddenly a certain supernatural creature made him feel something he hadn't felt since Hayden broke up with them; a warm feeling in his chest, his heart skipping a beat whenever he saw him or when he was way too close. His skin would tingle when he felt the older boy's breath against his skin. 

"I can't take this anymore. Theo, talk, make any noise, do something. I hate the silence." Liam broke.

"What?" Theo asked, not understanding what he was meant to do. 

"I hate silence. And you are awfully quiet for your own doing. You would either lecture me on how I was careless about myself because I let them abuse me, or you would make some bad joke about my weakness." The younger boy spoke.

"First, I wouldn't joke about your weakness, because you are anything but weak, and second, I think it's none of my business about what happened unless you wanna talk about it." 

"Oh, since when are you such a gentle man?" Liam raised his eyebrows. What the hell happened to him? The murderous, careless chimera seemed to care about his boundaries, Liam thought.

Theo rolled his eyes; what was he going to say, what was he supposed to do with this, with him?

"T, is something wrong?"

"No, why?" Theo gazed from the road to the boy next to him. His eyes were locked on Liam's for a little too long, so he let out a gasp when he saw a deer crossing the road beside the woods. "Geez." He whispered to himself when he passed the deer, avoiding it just in time.

"God. Where did you get your driver's license?" Liam exclaimed.

"Not." Was all Theo said, making the younger boy look up with a confused look while raising a brow. 

"What?"

"I never got one."

"So, you're driving illegally?" Liam asked. Theo just nodded, not seeing why Liam was so surprised by it. The chimera thought it was one of the most normal things. "You are insane!" Liam laughed.

"Thanks." Theo said with a smile. He like seeing the beta laugh or smile. He enjoyed his happiness, so much though, that even his comfort from Liam's happiness was as good as his comfort in silence. He glanced back at Liam again, but this time he made sure only to look for a second before returning his gaze to the road again.

"But I'm serious now, what is up with you? You are acting strange, not like yourself." Liam said. He looked up at the older boy. Theo's smile had disappeared, his jaw tightened. "What is up with you?" 

"I just feel like... I- I should've protected you. You didn't deserve to get hurt like that. Wh-why didn't you defend yourself? Why didn't you do anything? God, Liam! You think you deserved to get hurt like that?! What about me? Why couldn't you just punch them in the face, kick them like they did to you?!" Theo yelled, anger boiling up inside him. He hated that Liam didn't do anything about the abuse against him.

"What? Theo, where does this come from all of the sudden?"

"You let yourself get hurt, why?"

"Because I deserved it! Lori and Brett died because I wasn't quick enough- fast enough to save them!" Liam snapped. It felt good to let the truth out to someone he trusted the most, despite Theo's mistakes. 

"You did everything you could to save 'm but it was already too late-"

"No! I didn't! Why does everyone keep saying that?!" Liam yelled. 

"Okay, I'm sorry. I just wanted to make you feel better... or something." Theo said. Liam just rolled his eyes. 

"Don't bother. Everyone already tried." Liam crossed his arms. "Wait, where are we even going to? This isn't the right way."

"Really?" Theo said in a playful and taunting voice, a smirk forming on his lips. 

"Yes, really! What the hell are you doing? Kidnapping me?"

"No." Was all Theo said as he took a left. Liam frowned; why was the chimera still smiling, which turned into smirking, and why wasn't he just saying where they were going? Liam thought as he leaned back in the passenger's seat, knowing Theo wasn't going to kidnap him. Why did he trust the older boy so much? He could snap his neck in just less than a second.
