In the distance towards the house, I could hear both Pet and IvyHawk defending the house. Ilonna barrelled into a large sable, shoving him closer to me where I could grab his hind leg and harshly tear it outward, popping the joint out. She tore open its belly while he was on his back, blood spraying and pooling. We raced through the crowd, throwing and tearing every wolf we came in contact with–Lycanshift or not. A harsh cry left my throat as I was dragged back by another wolf. The wind left me the moment my back slammed into the ground. Regardless, I rolled just in time for the large wolf to miss me. With hatred burning in her eyes, she jumped at me again, biting my face with a snarl as she raked her claws down my flank. I pushed against her, digging my claws into her chest and shoving her. Back and forth, we went, biting and grabbing anything we could to hurt the other. It only took a moment’s distraction of glass shattering for me to earn an opportunity. I lunged and grabbed her throat, throwing her into Pet who tore a gash into her neck that sent her running with her tail tucked.

By this time, almost a third of the attack party had turned tail and fled–leaving only the lycanshifts. All wolf-borns ran like the cowards they are, tripping and falling over the fallen ones. Ilonna and I were pushing ourselves, I could feel it. Even though there were only eight wolves left, the majority of the fight was faced with only Ilonna and I. A howl at the house brought us to a stop, Pet dropping the wolf in his jaws. It ran the opposite way immediately after hitting the ground. Pain throbbed through my limbs, shoulders, and neck as blood trickled from bites and scratches. Ilonna limped over to my side, favouring her left paw and trying not to put much pressure on it.

Anger flooded my veins and pushed the pain to a barely-noticeable annoyance as I recognised the woman standing atop my front porch. “Woo! Heyy! Well hello, there~! It’s nice to finally see you again, (y/n)~!” The one and only Sabine De LaCroix waved at us with a cheery expression, her sinister smile and wide eyes painted her as a clinical psycho. Both Ilonna and I bolted towards the porch, growls emitting from our throats at the thought of finally ridding of this wench, “Uh oh! Not so fast~...” with a flourish, she disappeared back inside, stepping over the broken front door. We skipped the steps, leaping over them and bounding into the house one after the other with Pet on our heels. As I slid to a stop in front of the doorway to the living room, my blood ran cold as ice at the sight.

Two burly men, covered in blood and wearing nothing but undershorts, forced a bleeding and bruised William into a chair, tying his arms behind him and his legs to the chair. They thoroughly made sure that he wouldn’t be able to stand or move. From where I stood, I could tell he was awake, as he kept blinking through the blood dripping from his split brow. It wasn’t until Sabine stepped back into the living room, wearing my (f/c) satin dressing gown and dripping in bloody water. Irritation erupted at the sight, a growl rumbling from my throat. “Oh dear, you’re just as cold as you’ve always been,” she sighed with feigned pity, “No matter,” she shrugged, padding over to William, grabbing him by the chin and forcing his head up, “It’s sad that you’re so attractive, I’m half tempted to kill him instead of you just so I can keep you AND the company,” she smirked down at him, smearing the drop of blood leaking from his mouth.

“Go to hell,” he spit at her, spraying blood across her face as he tore his face from her grip. His irate glare locked onto her, his silver eyes ignited in fury. I felt pride that he wasn’t scared, yet I worried for his safety–as me and Ilonna both knew what Sabine was capable of.

“You… you DISRESPECTFUL BASTARD!” She shrieked, slapping him hard as her breathing became ragged with anger, “How dare you!?”

“I never have been one for respect,” he chuckled through the pain, keeping her engaged in conversation. As I was about to step forward and attack, I was forced to the ground by the throat. Ilonna and Pet were treated the same, though these humanised Lycanshifts held guns to both William and Ilonna’s heads. As much as I wanted nothing more than to tear free of the jaws keeping me on the hardwood, dread rooted itself in my belly at the realisation.

Sabine chuckled at my wide-eyed expression as my ears laid back, knowing I couldn’t do anything for fear of my sister and boyfriend being killed, “Don’t look at me like that! You know you deserve this. You know what you did!” She turned towards me, slowly approaching, “Change him.” Before I could process what she said, a stinging pain met my throat and spread through my veins. I cried out in pain and thrashed against it, my muscles seizing and tightening as my bones broke under the pressure. Through the blood rushing from my throat and the blinding pain, I barely heard William.

“What the hell did you do to him!?” He sounded panicked, his outburst getting the butt end of a gun slammed across his cheekbone, creating a light trickle of blood. All I could see was white before the pain faded and the room slowly came back into focus. I laid in a gorey puddle of blood and shredded flesh and fur, panting and fighting to catch my breath.

Much to my relief, whoever was holding me at least had the decency to throw a towel over me. I rolled onto my side, my shaky hands pulling the cloth to cover my lower body as much as possible. My moment of recuperation didn’t last though, as my hair was grabbed and I was forced up into a sitting position. Sabine grabbed my face and forced me to look at William, “You see your boyfriend over there? Yeah, the one you’ve been lying to?” William looked confused for a moment yet didn’t speak. She then made me look at Ilonna, “And your darling sister? I was so ecstatic to hear that we had both heirs in one place! How fun it’ll be to kill your only remaining sister, then take away your only love!” She nearly cooed in my ear with a sickeningly sweet voice, “But first! I need to rid of so–” She was cut off by the dog who’d grabbed her by the leg and was pulling her away from me. In her startled state, she let go of me in favour of trying to get the Borzoi from her ankle. Momentary pride bloomed in my chest as he tore at her ankle, snarling in his effort to protect me. That is, before the familiar black and burgundy-brown she-wolf grabbed Mercedes by the throat and ripped him from the ground.

“NO–!” A heart-stopping crack sounded as his thin body was thrown across the room and onto the floor, cutting off my cry of panic. I fought down the sobs clenching my throat closed, turning my angered, betrayed glare to IvyHawk who paused to lick Sabine’s ankle clean before aiding her in standing, “You… Why?” My voice broke from the strained emotions I struggled to keep from bubbling over. A cold feeling spread through my body, my heart thundering against my ribs.

“You poor thing, still as naïve as you were as a pup,” Sabine sweetly cooed before a wretched snarl ripped from her throat, “Such an entitled brat! You get everything you want without complaint, and you always have! How is it that you always make it out alive, huh? You always were my favourite, before you turned out just like your fucking father!” She dragged me to the glass coffee table, slamming my head against the surface hard enough I thought it cracked, “Now! I know they have to be oh so confused~! Shall we tell them what really happened that night? Seeing as you obviously haven't told them, even killing poor Josephine just so your lover won't find out.”

“Liar! I didn't start the fire!” I snarled, lurching forward before she smashed my head against the glass, "I killed her because she tried to kill me!" I growled in pain as small shards of glass were buried in my face and head.

"You're pathetic! Do you honestly expect me to believe you?" She growled in my ear, clutching my hair so hard that my scalp was burning, "Let's see if your beloved still loves you after he learns of what you did, shall we?"
