William’s POV:
“What do you mean by that, Henry?” I knew he technically couldn’t cut me from the business and he couldn’t fire (y/n) without my approval, which he wouldn’t get.
“I think you know what I mean, William… This won’t look good and you know it,” he continued with his scolding, making it clear he knew what was going on.
“We’ve only gone out once, Hen–”
“That is still breaking standards!” Henry interrupted me, only making me more aggravated.
“There is nothing in the standards against relations inside the business, and you know it! You and I wrote them, for god's sake! Besides that, he’s a bloody night guard. We never have a shift together, so I don’t understand why you’re so against something being between us,” I snapped at him, though trying to keep my voice down for the sleeping being laying on my chest. With a light touch, I moved the blanket further up on (y/n)’s form.
“It’s unprofessional! That’s why!” I could tell he was getting worked up, but trying to restrain himself.
“What’s professional about a children’s entertainment company, Henry? I understand your want of keeping things strictly employee-boss, but enough to keep me from the one I want? It’s been a year since the divorce, and he’s the only person I’ve felt this way about,” I felt only slightly bad for guilt tripping him, but it was necessary.
“I’m sorry, William…” the other sighed, “I know you’ve been having a hard time since Clara…”
“She still acts like she owns me, trying to force her way back into my life. Such a bitch, just how she’s always been I suppose,” I sighed, aggravated with the woman.
“You’re right about the job… You both have completely different shifts, so there shouldn’t be any problems,” Henry relented, sighing through his nose, “I have seen you happier than usual.” He dryly chuckled.
“(y/n) is unlike any other person I’ve met before. He’s unafraid and daring,” I softly chuckled, looking down at the male whose shallow breath ghosted over my skin.
“I think he’s the only one you haven’t scared, in all honesty,” Henry responded, “I’m glad you’re both ok, I have to get back and finish up some paperwork.”
“Alright, I’ll let you go,” with that, I set the phone back in its place on the stand. (Y/n) snuggled closer to me under the blanket, pushing his face into the crook of my neck before settling there. I chuckled softly and wrapped my arms around him, gently holding him close.
1 week later - July
(y/n)’s POV:
William was healed enough to return to work, hence he was supposed to be out of the house today. If he wasn’t worrying over me so much, he’d be on time– not that it’s not endearing to have him so caring towards me. We stood at the garage door, only a few inches apart with William’s arms resting around my waist and mine on his shoulders.
“...It’ll be alright, dear, I’ll be ok,” I tried to urge William’s caring hands from keeping me in their hold, to no avail. He continued holding me close to him, refusing to let me stand on my own.
“Are you sure, love? Let me get Micheal here to watch over you, he needs to get out of the house anyway,” he made a move to grab the phone before I stopped him. He looked back at me with confusion in his eyes, my hands holding his forearms gently.
“What are you going to tell him? We can’t tell him I got silver poisoning or bitten by something, he’d never believe that. He’d see the wound and immediately know something isn’t right,” I asked with a hint of fear in my voice, I knew he’d be suspicious at the sight of blackened veins leading to the cut.
