(This one is longer to make up for not uploading last week, my apologies to my singular reader. Thank you for reading if you're the only read I've been getting.)

(y/n)’s POV:

[Wednesday, 4:00 AM]

“I just can’t sleep, nothing is particularly wrong, I promise,” I reassured Ilonna over the phone I’d gotten installed in the kitchen. I hated having to nearly race to the phone in the foyer in order to make it on time, so I got another one. Currently, I stood at the counter, kneading bread dough with the phone trapped between my shoulder and ear.

“Alright, if you say so,” she sighed before yawning, “I can’t believe you almost fucked your boss, (y/n).”

“That’s what you’re stuck on?? Nevermind, we never even almost fucked. We’ve shared my bed, that’s it. You know I would never stoop that low as to form that sort of relationship with my superior,” I reasoned through Ilonna’s laugh.

“But you kissed though! You now have an affectionate relationship with your superior, (y/n),” she retorted. At first, when I’d first told her of Sunday’s events on Monday morning, she was understandably angry with me and wouldn’t answer my calls the rest of the day. I’m surprised she even answered this call so early in the morning. Nevertheless, now she was teasing me about it. I could tell that she didn’t approve of my relations, but she also seems happy that I’ve even allowed William so close to me.

“That is true, but at least I can’t get fired since he’s the co-owner of the busine—”

“Oh you went for the top!!” Ilonna’s laugh rang out loud, interrupting me, “Holy shit!”

“I didn’t go for anything! I didn’t even want to let him close, but I can only repress those feelings so much before they start affecting those around me,” I explained, “I’ve found myself to quite fancy him, and maybe I do want to get closer to him. We’re both learning about each other and seeing where this goes.”

“Alright, alright. As you should, I’m glad that you’re sensible enough not to get dragged down into the deep end with him. We have our secrets, and I’m sure he has his,” she calmed down, bringing up another topic I’d wanted to speak to her about.

“Speaking of secrets, I think I might know one of his, and it’s a big one,” I cut the kneaded dough in half and put them in separate bowls before covering them and letting them rise.

“Oh? Do tell,” Ilonna urged, interest in her voice.

“I told you about that hallway, right? The one that smells faintly like blood?” I started, “Well, I did a little searching on my own with the help of some friendly children I’d met–”

“Wait, you hate children,” Ilonna interjected.

“Yes, but they’re dead children, only spirits who are quite nice,” she made a sound of understanding before I continued, “Anyway, I went into the back room, the Parts and Service one, and found the source of the scent. It was absolutely rank in there, Ilonna! It smelled of badly cleaned up decay and rust, which are NOT a good combination ever. That only solidified my thoughts that my dear William has been being quite bad. The children have told me before that ‘the man in purple killed them’ but I was sceptical as to if the killer was William or not.”

“Oh damn, so your children are plotting you against your boyfriend? What are you going to do now that you know what he’s been hiding?” Ilonna sounded just as intrigued in this ordeal as I’ve been.

“Well, I’m going to see how much I can learn about it. I mean, every killer has a motive, and I want to know his. Besides that, I can’t just contront him with it, he’d try to kill me then I’d have to go into hiding, and that’s just too messy to attempt to clean up. I still need my talisman back, considering I have yet to even go to his house,” at this point, I was almost ranting, “I digress, maybe this Friday will end at his house instead of mine.”
