It's a cloudy day, the sky streaming through the window of the company car is gray. It looks like it's going to rain, but that's not what clouds Chan's mind.

He's finally free and he can't wait to meet with the members. He missed them so much.

He finished his military service a week ago and his first stop was in Australia, to greet his family after a year of absence. His mother would never have forgiven him if he hadn't come to her first.

And now he is finally heading to the dormitory, after the usual chaos of the airport. Journalists and fans arrived in their thousands to welcome him, see him, photograph him. And he has completely become unaccustomed to this kind of treatment. But there is something familiar and warm about that, as if that confusion, generally unappreciated, were the confirmation that everything has remained the same.

Stray Kids has become even more famous lately and the older members have reached their military service age. Chan has completed his period and that experience, for better or for worse, has changed him deeply.

However one thing hasn't changed: how much he needs his members. He has missed them all: Minho, who doesn't accept any of his hugs; that menace that Seungmin is; Hyunjin with his drama attitude; Han and his need to be protected; Changbin, his gym bro; Felix his Aussie mate. And, of course, Jeongin.

A sigh leaves Chan's full lips. Jeongin.

There hasn't been a single day that he hasn't thought of him while he was away and now he's scared. He's scared that Jeongin doesn't need him anymore, that no member needs him anymore.

He's scared that he's become... Optional.

Luckily, many of his worries vanish as soon as he steps into his dormitory: everyone was waiting for him.

«Channie-hyung!» Felix and Han run and jump on him, almost making him fall. The Sunshines twins of the group have not changed at all.

Chan drops his duffel bag to the floor with a big smile and hugs them back, pulling both boys up, «Hannie! Yongbokie!»

«Ya! You've become so strong, hyung!» Felix squeaks, bringing his feet back to the ground and starting to touch his friend's bicep.

Chan ruffles his blonde hair and looks up at Changbin, who comes over and gives him a warm hug.

«You missed me, didn't you?» Chan sneers, squeezing him.

«Shut up» Changbin mutters, holding back tears. To be honest, it had been tough without a leader. As their fame reached its peak, it was increasingly difficult to keep their relationships a secret from the world. And Changbin often found himself thinking, "Chan would know what to do."

But Chan wasn't there with them and they could rarely talk to him. So the weight and responsibility of Stray Kids fell on Minho and Changbin's shoulders, who did their best.

«Thanks for leading them» the Australian whispers to him, hugging him even tighter.

«Nice haircut» Minho sneers interrupting them, stealing the cap that covers Chan's shaved head.

The leader turns quickly and grabs him, trapping the cat-boy in a hug despite his protests. Han looks at them laughing. He had missed Chan, everyone had missed him.
