When Tobias returned to the compound, he saw Cara.
"Where's Tris?" He asked. Before she could reply, Tobias saw Tris walking toward him with her right shoulder bandaged.
"You did it," she said.
"No, we did it," Tobias replied. Looking at her shoulders, he asked what happened.
"I went to the weapons lab instead of Caleb. I survived the death serum and I set off the memory serum in time. David's dead. I shot him, I had no choice. He was going to kill me." Tris said.
"What?! I don't care about David! You could have died Tris!" Tobias shouted. He was angry. He couldn't bare it if Tris died. He wouldn't be able to live without her.
"Hey, it's all over now," Tris smiled.
"It's just that the thought of you-" but before he could finish his sentence, Tris kissed him, softy at first but then harder. "I love you so much, you know."
Still smiling, Tris replied, "I know. I love you too."
