Daichi Sawamura

Being engaged to a police officer came with some pretty big pros and cons...

pros: you always feel safe when with them, They respect the you and the community, willing to sacrifice themselves to help others and for me personally keeps any creepy guys off my back

cons: there's a lot of weekends and holidays taken over by their work, they undergo a lot of traumatic events and you constantly worry for them.

I met Daichi during college and we started dating while he was waiting to be accepted into the police academy. Only recently was it that we got engaged and I knew what I was getting myself into now that Daichi was working as a cop full time.

Daichi had just gotten out of work and I was making dinner for us.

"Hey" he sighed

"Hey, how was work?" I asked

"Awful..."

Daichi pulled me into a tight hug and just kept a hold of me.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"No..not yet..." he says

"Okay sweetheart"

I gave him a kiss on the cheek before going to serve dinner.
Over dinner I noticed Daichi hardly touched his food which wasn't like him at all, he was the one with the biggest appetite known to man.

"Daichi, are you okay, seriously?" i asked

"Sorry baby, I'm not that hungry tonight" he says

"It's okay, I can put it in a container and you can have it when you're ready" I say.

"Thanks..I'm gonna go take a shower"

I nodded as he walked off, I looked at his plate and he didn't have a single bite...

after clearing up the kitchen there was a knock at our front door. When I answered it was one of Daichi's co workers who he was often on shift with.

"Haru hi" I say

"Hey L/n, I just wanted to drop in and check up on Sawamura, todays shift was a pretty messy day" he says

"What happened actually, he hasn't said anything about it but it's clear bothering him, he hasn't touch any of his dinner either..." I asked

"It's not my place to say...but uh..Daichi had to shield a little girl from watching her dad get arrested for killing her mom..." Haru says.

"Oh my god that's awful..." I gasped

"It's really effected him, I just wanted to see if he was okay" he says

"he's in the shower, I'll let him know you dropped by" I stated

"Thanks, Boss said he can take the week off if he needs" Haru said

"No problem I'll pass it on, thanks Haru"

After he left I went upstairs and Daichi was laying on his side of the bed, I walked over and climbed on and pulled him into a hug from behind.

"Y/n?"

"Shh, it's alright" I whispered

"Who was at the door?" He asked

"It was Haru, he just wanted to check up on you,"

Daichi turned around and looked at me.

"Y/n...a little girl watched her own father murder her mom...she was only 4 years old..." he says

"I know...Haru told me, but you did such a good job comforting that little girl" I say.

"If only we had gotten there sooner we could have stopped it..." he sighed
