"Happy graduation,"
"Thanks so much, everyone,"
I just graduated from middle school, and might I say, I feel rather excited, happy, and ready for high school.
"Where would you like to school? The one in town or here?" My aunt asked me smiling warmly.
I just smiled back at her. My aunt is a strict but caring person and plans things out for me, and by that, I mean she plans out my life. So that question she asked me doesn't exactly matter.
Does she really want my opinion? I thought.
"Well, I was thinking, last night you told me that if I get all straight A's, you'll grant me a wish," I spoke in a low tone. I looked up at her, expecting her to say no or say that was all in the past, but to my surprise, she smiled and nodded.
This town that I'm currently living in is very small. It's like those types of small communities that everyone knows each other. So obviously, since I've lived here ever since I was little, I would want to leave, but that is something my aunt doesn't understand.
I get why she doesn't want to let me go, I mean, she practically took care of me all these years. When I was little, I lost my parents. So it was my mom sister who took me in and have been taking care of me ever since.
So it's not that I'm not grateful. It's just that sometimes the baby bird needs to leave the nest.
She sighed and gave me a warm look. "I know. I can't believe I promised you that I must have been out of my mind," she spoke jokingly.
"I knew this day would come," she muttered.
I felt pretty bad that I brought down my head and apologised softly.
