When they had all settled in the room together, five seated on the couch, Hyunjin curled up beside the rug and Chan perched on the edge of a chair, Felix started.
"Before... in Australia, we used to be friends. We met in K - pop dance. That was when we were..." Felix paused, cocking his head to one side. "Seven or eight."
"Yes" Chan nodded in agreement.
"We went to school together, and for the next eight years, we were the best of friends." Felix looked down. "Or so I thought." He said the last part coldly. Felix refused to look at anyone but the ground.
Chan started, "Then, my parents told me that we had to immigrate to Korea. They were Korean, you see. I... couldn't bear to say goodbye. I wasn't sure how he would react. Maybe he would just look down sadly and say he understood. Or he would look at me with eyes broken and full of betrayal of some sort, and beg me to stay. So I left without saying goodbye."
Felix sat down on the chair that was behind him and closed his eyes. Tears had formed in his eyes and was now rolling down his cheeks, leaving behind clear streaks that shimmered in the ceiling lights.
"So," his voice was hoarse. "What about you deleting my contacts. No messages, no WeChat, no nothing." His voice cracked.
"I -- was young when that happened. I wasn't in my right state of mind." Chan looked at Felix.
"Chan. You weren't that young when you did it. It was one year ago." Felix opened his eyes. They sparkled more than the tear streaks on his cheeks. "Now, I find you one year later with a new group of friends. Heck, you didn't even recognize me just then!" He looked at Hyunjin and Lee Know and all the others. "Did you forget about me?"
"I- I-" Chan know lying wasn't going to help. "I- yes. I did. I just refused to think about you for the next few months after I moved. It hurt too much. And then I just... forgot about you. I'm sorry."
"Chan! Do you know what the past year has been like for me? Looking at all you gave me, storing it all away. I was determined not to forget you. And now, what have you been doing?"
Bang Christopher Chan knew that it hurt Felix much more than it hurt him. The soft amiable boy hadn't changed one bit. On the outside at least.
"Did anything happen when I left?" Chan asked. This was just him merely curious. If only he knew what had really happened.
Felix was immediately hit by the reality of all this, and his mother. Screaming his voice hoarse, begging her to stay, while she jumped of the five story balcony of their house. Her telling him that she loved him, but had still decided to leave him in the end.
No one ever stays. Never. Not Chris, not my mom, and not my dad. Not my grandparents or any of the "friends" I had when I was younger. Not even the bullies that used to bully me in school.
"Felix." Hyunjin's voice cut through his memories.
"Hmm?"
"Want pizza?"
Yes I know that I haven't posted in what... a month? I am really sorry (not) so I made this one long. IDK next time I will add. Bye bye.
