Felix POV:
TRIGGER WARNING: MENTIONS OF SUICIDE, TALKS ABOUT ABUSE AND ALCOHOL
The silence was deafening. Ironic, isn't it?
Both Chan and Hyunjin stared at me. They're waiting for me to say something.
The air feels so fucking heavy. The couch suddenly became too soft. My brain all of a sudden blanked on words to say.
"Felix. No pressure." Chan said, noticing my trembling hands. He's always been observant, after all.
"Ah, yes." I stutter. "So, like, what do you want me to say?"
"Whatever you're willing to say. The entire story, preferably." Hyunjin says soothingly.
"Yeah. So, erm, my mom sorta...committed suicide." I say. Gosh, tears were already forming in my eyes.
I won't cry.
I won't goddamn cry.
I won't.
I won't.
I refuse.
I take a shuddering breath.
"My dad never liked me much, I guess. He wanted a girl." I start. "Then we moved here, I guess. Then something happened, and my dad just...snapped.
"He suddenly starting drinking, beer, alcohol, whatever he could get his hands on. It was a drastic change. Sometimes, he would go crazy. He would abuse my mother, leading her to commit suicide.
"She jumped from the balcony. She told me she loved me. She used to promise that she would never leave me alone." I laughed bitterly. "Look what happened. Then my father started to...you know, hit me."
"Felix." When did Changbin come? "I'm sorry."
I glance around the room. It was only Changbin who barged in, thankfully. Just Chan, Changbin, and Hyunjin. And me, of course.
"It's alright." I say.
Chan was glaring at Changbin. "I thought we locked the door?" He demands.
"You did, but I unlocked it." Changbin smiles sheepishly. "I know how to pick locks."
"And didn't think to knock?" Hyunjin comes to Chan's defense.
"Doesn't that defeat the purpose of knowing how to pick locks?" Changbin interjects.
"Next time, knock. It was a personal conversation."
"Yeah, my bad. I won't breathe a word, no worries, Felix." He nods in my direction.
"Thank you." I reply. I breathe out a sigh. Ugh.
"I'll leave you guys to talk about this. Changbin, come on." Chan gets up and exits the room, dragging Changbin behind him.
I look at Hyunjin. He looks at me.
"So." He starts. I start to fidget.
"Yes?" I say.
"I'm sorry about what happened."
"It's alright. In fact, pretend you never heard it. I shouldn't have said it." I say. I feel like I'm betraying my father. He could be taken away for child abuse, and although he does abuse me, he still is my father.
Hyunjin looks shocked. "Alright. I won't question it."
"Thank you." I like how Hyunjin doesn't question anything.
"Go to sleep. I'll wake you up tomorrow, we can go to the dorm room to prep for class." Hyunjin says.
"Mhm. OK." I say. I quickly claim a couch and drift off to sleep.
.....
Hyunjin's shaking me up. The sun has just risen.
"Come on. Let's go." I sit up, my cut acting up again, and rub my eyes.
In a couple of minutes, I get ready and we head off to campus.
The school is silent. For once, there are no students shrieking in the hallways, and, most importantly, nobody fawning over Hyunjin. It's not that I like him, it's just that it gets annoying. And I don't really want to leave him during school hours. It's a maze here, and I might as well just run into a dead end.
We head to the dorm, eat food, and get ready to class. By the time we exit, the hallways are filled with people.
Sun Hee and her gang are here. Actually, it's more that they just "accidentally" wandered to the place where Hyunjin, Lee Know, Han, Changbin and I are standing. The others aren't here yet.
It's day two of school. Will she pick a fight? I haven't forgotten the threat she made yesterday.
"Hi, Hyunjin." Sun Hee purrs. Her gang bats their eyelashes flirtatiously at the others.
Hyunjin pays her no attention. She turns her attention on me. "Hello, Felix." Her voice has an edge to it now. I tug on the sleeves of my sweater.
"Felix, can you come with me?" She smiles. "I want to talk to you for a sec."
"Sun Hee..." Hyunjin glares at her. "What on earth would you want with Felix?"
"Just a question. I heard he wants to join the dance team?" She replies.
Oh yeah. We were discussing it yesterday during lunch.
"Fine." I smile at Hyunjin. "One second." I follow Sun Hee to an isolated corner.
"So, Felix." She sneers.
"Sun Hee." I say.
"Dance team, huh?" She snorts. "I'm on it too. If you want to get on there, make sure you stay away from Hyunjin."
The fuck? Like, this girl is crazy.
"Why?" I ask.
"Because. If you don't, I will make sure you get kicked out. I was also part of the drama group last year. I assure you, I can act pretty well."
"Meaning?" I demand.
"If you don't stay away, the principal will be demanding that you apologize for bullying me." She hisses.
.....
SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING IN SO LONG.
I'm thinking that Felix and Hyunjin won't get together, but will be really close. I just don't want to write any kissing scenes here. I'm sorry if that's what your looking for, but there will be plenty of angst.
BTW, how old do you think I am. Just curious.
