(This is set in an au where they aren't explorers. They still love animals but they aren't explorers for the sake of the setting.)
"I can't do this shit anymore!!!" your sister screeched. Flinching, I covered my ears and exhaled sharply.
Koki and I were helping Aviva get ready for her wedding, but Chris came in and told us the officiant got sick and couldn't make it. I sighed and helped her into her dress as she started crying.
"Viva, legally you might not be able to get married but everything else worked out fine." I started quietly. "We will get through this."
"Yeah. Everything will be alright." Koki said.
"Isn't papá a legal officiant?" I asked. "He might have papers. He comes prepared like that. Plus I asked him if he could just in case."
Aviva stopped crying and stared gratefully at me. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!" She squealed. I flinched but smiled. Koki fixed her makeup and then we led her to the front of the sanctuary. Your mamá was already back there and hugged the both of us. Koki went out to her post as one of the bridesmaids and I nearly cried when I walked her down the aisle.
Mamá was the ring bearer and Jimmy was the flower man. Everything worked out perfectly. Aside from almost not having an officiant, but nonetheless. I did break when they said their vows though. Everything was so heartfelt and endearing. I was so proud of my baby sister for reaching this milestone, but I was also slightly worried.
I know Martin is a good man, but I worry that their differences will result in heartbreaking arguments. Now it was time for the reception. They had already been pronounced husband and wife and were dancing. Martin whisked her across the dance floor and by the time they finished I could barely contain my excitement.
"(N/N)!" Aviva called. I snapped my head up.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Care for a dance?"
"Oh, ganso tonto, you know I can't dance." I said sheepishly. Lie. I can dance better than she can. I just don't like public attention.
"Mentiroso, get over here." She said.
"Fine." I pulled her into the cage of my arms and danced elegantly with her. At the end I pulled her into a tight hug. "I'm so proud of you."
"Thanks, hermano mayor. Y'know I know you've been suspirando por Jimmy. You should ask him out."
"That obvious huh?" You asked. "I will but not yet. I couldn't do that on your special day."
"Yeah yeah I know, you humilde bastardo." Aviva laughed.
"Wow, love you too." I said jokingly, feigning hurt. We laughed and then Martin came over.
"Hey, encantadores idiotas, it's time for cake." He said. I laughed at his pronunciation.
"Okay, cuñado."
Martin led Aviva and I to the table and we sat. I sat on her left and he was to her right, and Chris was to my right. We ate. It was great.
The next day I sent Viva off on her honeymoon. Not without crying though. I clung to her until Jimmy and Chris managed to pry me off. I said bye almost a million times through tears of joy and sadness. I hated seeing my niñera go but I had to.
"Hey, you good?" Jimmy asked.
"Meh. I guess. I just miss her. I mean I love you guys but she was my first friend and honestly my only friend for the longest time."
"Have you ever wanted more than a friend?" Jimmy asked. He glanced at me. Jimmy kept his eyes trained on the ground for the most part, and glanced up to me every now and then.
"Yes." I responded. My face was dusted with pink as you drew out the syllable.
"Who?" He mumbled.
"You." I said. I hugged him tightly and he returned the hug just as tightly. We stayed there for what felt like a blissful eternity.
"You guys are adorable." Chris stated. He leaned against the wall and had his arms crossed. He pushed off the wall and strode towards us. "I'ma head out. Cya." I laughed and gave him a thumbs up.
"Cya!"
