The gang had just finished a long day of school and were walking home together, it was Friday which meant; Movie Night! On Friday the girls would usually eat supper at the boy's house and then they'd watch a movie all together. Alvin walked in front of the group leaving Simon way in the back to think, he looked over a Jeanette and a warm smile crept onto his face. Jeanette ran up and grabbed her littlest sister's arm, "oh Ellie I'm so glad that we're partners for the Science project! We're going to do great!" She said with enthusiasm.
Which reminded Simon about who his partner was. "Oh Simon you're going to do great on my- I mean our project!" Brittany said as she linked arms with Simon. Simon rolled his eyes, 'she's just as bad as Alvin- if not worse for try to use her girlish charm.'
"Listen, there may be a little problem, I have this thing I need to do and I was wondering if you'd like to start on the project without me?" Brittany said batting her eyelashes.
"Sure thing Brit I'll start on the project, " Simon sighed as she continued walking.
"Oh, you're the best!" Brittany said as she jumped up and hugged Simon's neck, unfortunately, Jeanette looked over not understand what was going on all she could see was Simon and Brittany hugging.
Simon looked over to meet Jeanette's gaze, this looked bad from her point of view. 'Oh no- Jeanette's probably thinking I have a thing with Brittany!' Simon thought to himself. Jeanette looked away from the two with a sad expression on her face. 'Great going Simon,' he said to himself.
During supper Jeanette hardly touched her food, she was still thinking about how she caught her sister hugging her crush. 'I thought Simon was different- maybe he likes the pretty girls over the smart ones,' she said to herself heartbrokenly.
Simon tried his best to meet her gaze but she didn't even dare look at him. He couldn't help but look at how upset she was. 'I have to fix this!' He said to himself. After dinner was over the gang settled down to watch a movie.
"Okay fine what about this one guy!" Theodore said as he held up a movie that looked like it was made to entertain infants.
"Theodore if you pick another baby movie I will break the DVD player!" Alvin said furiously! Theodore had already suggested seven movies and they were all for younger children.
"Oh, " Theodore said disappointingly, "okay."
"Don't listen to him Theo, " Simon said as he sat down on the floor to help his little brother choose another movie. "We'll pick one together."
Jeanette blushed a tad bit, 'he's so sweet to his little brothers.' She thought to herself. She couldn't help but stare at him he was such a nice and gentle guy. Simon looked back to see Jeanette looking at him which made his heart pound like crazy, he quickly looked back to focus on the movie selection.
"Oh um, h-how about Jungle Adventure? It's not scary and it has great action scenes-"
"And the main actor Mr. Cameron Smith is sooo dreamy, " Brittany swooned.
"Ya let's play it!" Theodore and Eleanor agreed. The movie was settled and the gang sat down to watch with some snacks. Theodore and Eleanor sat on the rocking chair together, Simon Brittany and Jeanette sat on the couch and Alvin sat on the floor a little too close to the TV.
"Oh, this is the best part!" Alvin said as he flopped onto his belly. "This is the part where Dr. Jewel and Mr. Cameron Smith have to swim away from the sharks!"
"Oh, he's so cute!" Brittany said as she jumped off the couch to sit next to Alvin. By her bouncing it caused Jeanette to bump into Simon.
"Oh, I'm sorry-"
"No no that's alright, " Simon reassured her, Jeanette blushed at him. Simon expected her to sit down where she had originally had been but she stayed close to him. This made him extremely nervous he thought she was going to hear his heart race a mile a minute. They sat there for a moment both wanting to say something when all of a sudden-
"Do you have a thing for Brit?" Jeanette asked innocently.
"What no- she hugged me this afternoon because I told her I would do the project for her since she's not interested at all, " Simon explain- he then paused for a moment. "Today when we were given the assignment in science class... I hoped that I would have been partnered up with you, " he whispered to her.
Jeanette smiled, "really?" She said as he looked up at him to see that his face was completely pink. "Why?"
'Well here it goes, ' he thought to himself.
"Because you're extremely intelligent and interesting and... Beautiful."
"I am?" Jeanette said blushing.
"Ya," Simon admitted
Jeanette rested her head on Simon's shoulder, "well maybe we can be partners for the next project, " she said blushing.
"I'd like that, " Simon said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"Me too!" She said quietly.
