Returning to the small hospital is a surreal experience. I can't help but wonder about the history of this building and its owners. "How long have you guys owned this building?" I ask, curious about the establishment's history.

Jayce ponders the question, his memory uncertain. "Since 2013," he replies, then quickly amends, "Yeah, '13 or '12, I can't really remember." I nod, realizing that it's been a significant amount of time.

Jayden is nestled against my chest, and I can feel his warm breath as he sleeps peacefully. I sigh and absentmindedly rub his head, finding comfort in the familiarity of this moment.

Jill inquires about my hands, her concern evident. "How's your hands?" she asks, perched in Jayce's lap.

"They're a little sore, but I'll live," I respond, my voice calm. I glance at my bandaged hands, a reminder of the intense struggle from earlier.

An unfamiliar face in the room, extends a warm greeting, introducing himself. "You were so badass. I saw you beat the shit out of those guys," he remarks, trying to break the ice. "Sorry, I'm Colby," he adds, realizing I might not know him.

"Nice to meet you, Colby," I reply, appreciating the camaraderie. I'm still coming to terms with the adrenaline-fueled combat that unfolded earlier. "Did I really break a guy's neck?" I ask, a tinge of doubt and disbelief in my voice.

Jayce confirms my actions, acknowledging my strength. "Yep, you did," he says with a hint of pride. "You're strong, Rose."

A medical professional named Arin enters the room, bearing news about Jaxon's condition. He provides an update on Jaxon's medical state, delivering the information with a measured tone. "We were able to properly remove the bullets, and he's stable. But I'm not sure when he will wake up," he informs us.

My heart aches for Jaxon, and I can't wait to see him. "Can we go in?" I ask Arin, eager to be by Jaxon's side. Arin nods, and I gently nudge Jayden, guiding him as we follow Arin to Jaxon's room.

The room is quiet and dimly lit, the beeping of medical equipment providing a rhythmic background. Jaxon lies still on the hospital bed, his injuries and bandages evidence of the fierce battle he fought to protect us. His face bears a mix of bruises and scratches, yet his presence is a comforting reassurance.

I approach Jaxon's bedside, Jayden by my side, and reach for his hand. It's not easy to see him like this, but I find solace in his strength and his willingness to sacrifice for our family. Jayden gazes at his unconscious father, his young eyes filled with worry and innocence.

I lean down and press a gentle kiss to Jaxon's forehead, whispering, "I love you." Jayden follows my lead, his small hand reaching out to touch his father's.

Arin remains in the background, diligently monitoring Jaxon's vital signs and overall condition. He's a reassuring presence, ensuring that Jaxon receives the care he needs.

As Jayden climbs onto the hospital bed, he curls up beside his unconscious father, resting his little head on Jaxon's chest. It's a touching display of the bond between father and son, and I can't help but smile, even in this challenging moment.

I pull a chair closer to the bed, sitting down beside Jayden and extending my hand to reach Jaxon's. Our fingers entwine effortlessly, and I offer him a gentle, encouraging squeeze.

"Come on, baby, we can get through this together," I whisper, my voice filled with love and determination. I place a tender kiss on his hand, my commitment to standing by his side unwavering. I resolve to stay awake and vigilant for when he awakens, ready to support him as he has always supported our family, no matter the challenges we face.

A/N: I apologize for the brevity of the last two chapters. I've been experiencing an unusual challenge in bridging the gaps between chapters. I have a wealth of ideas for this book, and I'm even considering expanding it into a saga with two books. The first book will focus on the Mother and Father, while the second book will delve into the story of the Daughter and her complicated relationship with an unexpected adversary, possibly one she falls in love with. I'm still refining my plans, so your patience is greatly appreciated.
