It's the only way to save my son, a forced marriage with a stranger that my sister refuses to marry my Stepfather brings me to believe that If I marry Jaxon Lune They will pay for the heart transplant for my son Jayden. But when We get married Somet...
"You're welcome," I say, smiling at both Rose and Jayden. The boy seems pleasantly surprised by the warm reception, his small hand finding mine. "Yeah, thank you, Sir," he adds.
"You can call me Jaxon, don't call me anything fancy," I say, my tone gentle, my smile warm. "There are four rooms; you can pick any room you want." I glance down at Jayden, whose eyes widen in astonishment.
"Really?" he asks, his excitement palpable.
"Really, really," I confirm, a chuckle escaping my lips. Jayden seizes one of his suitcases and dashes down the hallway toward the rooms.
"You can have the Master; I'll stay in one of the guest rooms," I offer, thinking it only fair.
"No, I can't. You should keep it; your stuff's in there, and I have a lot to unpack. I'll take the guest room," Rose insists, her determination shining through. I can see her reluctance to accept such a gesture, but I respect her independence.
She meets my eyes, her gaze unwavering. I sense the depth of her resolve, her strength, and her pride. Despite my initial intention, I decide not to push any further. Instead, I grab some of her bags and gently guide her down the hallway, appreciating her spirit. Each step feels like a small victory, a step toward her trusting me, a step toward understanding the complexity of her past. The weight of her history hangs heavy in the air, but I'm determined to help her bear it.
"Mom, can Jaxon come with us?" Jayden asks, his eyes hopeful as he gets ready for his doctor's appointment. I glance at Jaxon, who is in the kitchen behind a computer, and shake my head.
"Not this time, sweetie. I think he's busy," I murmur. "Now, it's time to get dressed. Your appointment is at four, and we have a two-hour drive." Jayden nods and hurries to his room.
"Hey, I have to go to Dublin. Jayden has a doctor's appointment. Should I grab anything? Do you have a preference for dinner?" I inquire. Jaxon looks up from his work, and his deep green eyes seem to penetrate my soul.
"Whatever Jayden wants is fine with me," he replies with a soft smile.
"I wanted to thank you for helping me get him enrolled in school here. It means a lot," I say.
"Yeah, of course. I want to get to know you guys a little better, and as your husband, I'll help you when you need it," he says.
"Thank you," I murmur, appreciating his support. "I should get ready." I sigh and head to my room to prepare for the trip.
"Be careful," Jaxon says, offering a final word of caution as I leave. I nod and start getting dressed, thinking about how lucky I am to have him in our lives. The adjustment isn't always easy, but it's worth it.
