"Why?" I ask, my laughter bubbling up.
"To spoil you, of course," he says, placing the tray before me. "I need to make up for the time I wasn't around you and the baby." He lovingly rests his head on my baby bump.
"You can consider yourself forgiven," I giggle, feeling the joy of the moment. He tenderly kisses my stomach, and the warmth of his affection fills the room.
"I'm serious," Jaxon insists, his voice sincere and filled with emotion.
"I know, but you don't need to worry about any of that. I'm sure everything will be fine," I reassure him, my heart warmed by his thoughtfulness.
"Mom!" Jayden's voice calls from the hallway.
"In here, Bubba," I call, and he rushes into the room, his face beaming with excitement.
"I'm a straight-A student," Jayden proudly announces, handing Jaxon his report card. "All thanks to you guys for helping me with my homework," he laughs.
"That's amazing," I smile, pride welling up in my chest. Jayden wraps his arms around me for a hug, and I can't help but be proud of the young man he's becoming.
"Maybe when the baby is born, I'll be able to help them study," Jayden says, his hand gently resting on my growing stomach.
"Here," I smile, breaking off a piece of chocolate and handing it to him.
"Thank you, Momma," he says, planting a sweet kiss on my cheek.
"So, what's homework looking like today?" Jaxon asks as Jayden grabs his hand.
I smile as they leave the room, appreciating the strong bond that's forming between them. "Have fun. I'll be down in a minute. I need to get dressed so I can move around a little, maybe even go for a walk later," I say, feeling a sense of contentment as my family comes together, ready to face the future as a united front.
I take my time getting downstairs, feeling the strain of my pregnancy. As I descend the stairs, I see Jayden diligently doing his homework with Jaxon's guidance in the dining room.
Only then do I hear a knock on the door. I pull it open and am greeted with a warm smile from Lillian.
"Hi, sweetie," Lillian says, wrapping me in a tender hug.
"Hey, guys, come in," I smile, and Sean patiently waits for Lillian to finish hugging me. Finally, she pulls away, and Sean wraps his arms around me for a shorter but heartfelt hug.
