I gradually open my eyes, the soft light of the morning filtering through the curtains, and I let out a quiet sigh. My gaze falls to Rose, who's still sound asleep against me. Her hair is a bit messy, tumbling over her face like a silken curtain. Her skin is warm and soft, and the memory of how she pressed against me throughout the night warms my heart. The way her leg is loosely wrapped around me leaves me with a sense of longing – a desire to have this closeness every morning.

With a gentle touch, I reach over and turn off her alarm, not wanting to disturb her peaceful slumber. Slowly, I disentangle myself from her embrace, careful not to wake her. I find myself lingering for a moment, just to savor the warmth of her presence and the intimacy of the morning.

Finally, I decide it's time to get up and begin the day. I lean down and press a soft, lingering kiss to her head before I quietly slip out of bed. The lingering sensation of her soft skin against mine and the tenderness of our night together lingers as I make my way to Jayden's room to wake him up for school.

I step into the room, greeted by the sight of Jayden's peaceful and innocent face. He's a spitting image of his mother, Rose, in many ways, but there's a subtle resemblance that I can't ignore, a reminder of his biological father, Frank. I can't help but ponder the complexities of genetics as I sit down next to him, gently rubbing his arm to rouse him from his slumber. He groans softly and rolls onto his back, blinking up at me with drowsy eyes.

"Come on, Bud, it's time to get up for school," I murmur quietly, understanding that the transition from sleep to waking can be a bit of a struggle.

"Do I have to go? I want to stay with my mom," he sighs, his reluctance apparent in his voice and expression.

I smile and reassure him, "Yeah, I'm sorry, Bud. But hey, when I pick you up from school today, we can all go for dinner, okay?"

His eyes light up with the promise of a family meal. "Thanks," he says, and hugs me tightly, the bond between us growing stronger with each passing day.

"Okay, I'll be in the kitchen. What do you want for breakfast today?" I ask, giving him a choice in the matter. He takes a moment to ponder, his mind mulling over the breakfast possibilities.

"Can I have a waffle?" he finally asks, his voice tinged with a touch of excitement.

"Sure thing. I'll go start that, and we'll have breakfast before we leave," I reply, patting his shoulder before leaving the room. It's these simple, ordinary moments of our daily routine that remind me of the love and joy I've found in my life since Rose and Jayden became a part of it.

I slowly roll over in bed, reaching for Jaxon, but my fingers graze only empty sheets. The realization dawns upon me that he's no longer in bed. I glance at my phone and notice that he's turned off my alarm. A soft smile graces my lips as I appreciate his thoughtful gesture.

I sit up and stretch, the sheets cascading down to reveal the gentle curve of my back. The room is quiet, with a peacefulness that makes me savor the moment. As I gaze around the room, I'm reminded of the serenity and safety that being with Jaxon brings to my life.

With a sense of purpose, I swing my legs over the side of the bed and stand. I let my feet gently hit the floor, and I briefly revel in the sensation of plush carpet underfoot. My eyes move to the door, and I make my way across the hall to the room where my clothes are kept. The soft morning light filters through the curtains, creating a serene atmosphere that sets the tone for the day ahead.

The familiar routine of getting dressed begins, and I find comfort in the everyday tasks that bring a sense of normalcy to my life.

I hear the delightful sound of Jayden's laughter coming from the kitchen, and my heart swells with warmth, fully embracing the connection he has formed with Jaxon. As I step into the kitchen, I see Jaxon busy at the stove, preparing breakfast with a care that warms my heart.

"Another one, please?" Jayden asks, his voice soft and eager, his eyes alight with anticipation.

"Okay, let me think... Knock, knock..." Jaxon starts, setting the stage for a light-hearted exchange.

"Who's there?" Jayden responds, excitement dancing in his words.

"Owls Go," Jaxon replies, a mischievous glint in his eye.

"Owls Go Who?" Jayden plays along, his eyes sparkling with delight.

"That's right," Jaxon confirms with a chuckle, and I can't help but smile at their interaction. The way Jaxon engages with Jayden is a testament to the bond that is growing between them.

Jayden notices my presence and exclaims, "Mom!" before throwing his arms around me, giving me a tight hug. His morning cheer and affection warm my heart.

"Good morning," I greet him with a loving smile, ruffling his hair.

"Jaxon was telling me jokes," Jayden informs me, his eyes bright with enthusiasm. I glance at Jaxon, gratitude in my gaze.

"I've got one if you want to hear it," I suggest, eager to join in on the fun. Jayden nods vigorously, his eagerness palpable.

"Okay... Once I was kidnapped by mimes. They did unspeakable things to me," I share, and Jayden bursts into laughter. Even Jaxon can't help but chuckle.

"I never said it would be a good joke," I giggle, sharing a moment of light-heartedness with my two favorite people.

Jaxon prepares a plate for Jayden, featuring a generous waffle and a couple of crispy bacon strips. "Thank you," Jayden says politely, accepting the plate.

"No problem," Jaxon replies, his hand gently rubbing Jayden's shoulder. He then turns to prepare another plate, this time for me. I express my gratitude with a soft "Thank you" and a tender kiss on Jaxon's cheek.

"You're welcome," Jaxon responds with a smile, radiating warmth and affection. I take a seat next to Jayden at the table, and together, the three of us enjoy a pleasant and heartwarming breakfast, solidifying the sense of family that has blossomed between us.
