"How was your day?" Sara asked, as we sat down at lunch.

"It was fine, boring honestly."

Sara frowned, picking at her green beans. "You're always bored with school,"

"Well it's boring."

She laughed.

"What about you? What'd you do today?"

"The usual, I have a Spanish test next week," She grinned.

"I can't believe you're excited for a test."

"I like Spanish! It's interesting!" She shoveled in some green beans.

I just shrugged.

She swallowed. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, my mom said she'll be late picking us up. She has to drop of Nathan and Darien at their friends' house."

"Okay," My phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my jeans pocket. Text from Reynie.

Come over at five?

Sara peered across the table at the screen. "Girl, you got a date?"

I wish. "No, we're just watching a movie."

Sara wiggled her eyebrows at me. "Sure."

I huffed, my cheeks red.

"So," Sara said as we walked down the hall at the end of the day. "I'm thinking we'll have to ditch studying and use our time to get you ready for your date with Reynie."

"Ugh! Sara, it is not  a date!"

She winked. "Right."

I shot her a glare. "I'm gonna go get my stuff from my locker."

She winked at me again, and I rolled my eyes. Then hurried to my locker.

I swung it open and pulled out my books. I slammed the door shut, and then stopped short.

Wait...something was missing....

Oh no.
