Only a few days passed since Mihawk and Kuruma's tiny dispute. It's been a few days since Mihawk asked himself how he felt around Kuruma.
It's also been a few days since he felt like he was on the verge of becoming friendzoned.
Sometimes, when he sees Kuruma, he would quickly try and glance away and hide a faint blush. Sometimes, when he was training, he would imagine Kuruma next to him. She would be copying his movies and causing a ruckus and he would quietly chuckle at the thought. Sometimes, when he was extremely bored, he would think about her and then quickly get rid of the thought. Sometimes, he would even lose his footing when he would see her.
It was becoming hard for the swordsman. Very hard.
The war at Marineford was coming fast. Mihawk was getting so caught up with thinking about Kuruma and training himself so much that people can exaggerate seeing a waterfall of sweat running down Mihawk's face.
Mihawk was dealing with a lot of mixed feelings. Meanwhile, his student seemed to look normal. Although his student wasn't normal.
Kuruma started to get more sleep so she can train, that was great. Now that she's become more active, she's started to become a bit more intuitive. Whenever she saw Mihawk acting strange, she would start to wonder what was going on. Maybe he was getting old, maybe he was sick, maybe he was stressed.
Maybe he was just plain weird.
Kuruma even tried to talk to Perona about him.
Her thoughts never ceased to amaze both Perona and herself.
Kuruma was also starting to become worried. The war at Marineford would be dangerous. Blood would be shed, lives would be lost. The war might even cause a turning point in history and end and start a new era.
Anything could happen. The woman even feared Mihawk would die.
Yes, Mihawk would always be the strongest swordsman in her eyes, even after death. He was the one that helped Kuruma master her swordsmanship. If possible, he would help her defeat him and claim the title as the strongest swordswoman. It's because of his outstanding skills that she would rise to the top.
Kuruma knew Mihawk would die one day. Whether it's from old age or he was defeated in the hands of herself. But she didn't want him to die in the war.
It was because she cared that she didn't want him to die. Even after their tiny dispute, she cared and still held respect for Mihawk. So of course she would be worried.
She wanted to talk to him and try to persuade him to not fight in the war. But she didn't. One reason was because she would sound like she was underestimating him and that was disrespectful. Another reason was because she knew how he will answer.
He'll fight in the war and nothing would change that.
The last reason, it was too awkward to talk to him anymore. Kuruma wondered if he was holding his pride or something. Whatever he was doing, the awkwardness between the two was too much for her to handle. They didn't even have eye contact.
The swordswoman decided to continue to train her skills until the day Mihawk will have to leave the island.
For the past few weeks or so, he's been training himself to the bone. He wouldn't let anything distract him. Any thought of Kuruma that came to his mind, he would immediately erase. He was focused on one thing, fighting in the war.
