As the sun rose on the horizon, the team and the armies of Lux Aurea prepared for battle. They sharpened their weapons, practiced their magic and tempered with their shields. Hours away was the time to kill the second greatest evil the world had ever faced, or die trying.

The armies got in their defense positions. Shields in front, spears in the middle, archers in the back. It was not a large army, but they had a chance. As the sun reached the the top of the sky, and the clocks said 12:00, they saw Viren's armies approaching. They readied their weapons.

The priest said something to Viren. A strange, bulky, magma-like figure darted out. He ran toward the armies of Lux Aurea. Then the priest sent more of the same magma creatures out to battle. As shields clashed, magic flashed, and swords slashed below, Rayla paced in the lair of the dragon queen.

Zym and Bait paced beside her, unsure why she seemed so worried. "He's gonna be okay." She repeatedly whispered. She was stressed. Afraid. Terrified. She knew not what tragedies were occurring below. It was possible Callum was already gone. That thought brought her to tears. She had been chosen to be the last of the Dragonguard. An elite force.

But for some reason a thought brought her comfort. He was a mage. A powerful one too. Ibis had taught him everything he knew. They were almost equal in power now. But the comfort was not much. This is Viren we're talking about. And he's working with Aaravos.

Callum stood about 50 feet up the Storm Spire, ready to zap anything that tried to climb it. Prince Kasef, the first soldier they had sent, tried to scale it first. For some reason, Callum wasn't thinking straight and used Aspiro first. It had little effect on Kasef, and he managed to reach Callum. Rayla, in her worry, had come down to check on them.

She saw Callum, squirming in Kasef's grasp, and, with tears in her eyes, she jumped at them and tried to kick Kasef away. Her attacks did not harm him. "Ray...la?" Callum muttered weakly. She pulled out one of her butterfly blades and stabbed him. Over and over she did this until he fell to the ground and released Callum.

There he lay, unconscious on the ground. Rayla was hunched over him crying. "Callum!" She shouted, trying to wake him. His eyes remained closed. Bait and Zym walked up behind her. Bait put his small paw on her hand. She sat there, crying into her hands. He looked rather pale. She snatched his coat off of him and used it to elevate his legs.

He remained unconscious. Rayla was sobbing uncontrollably. She knew not why. He was only unconscious, right? She put her hand on his chest. She felt it rise and fall. He was alive, alright. But his breathing was faint and slow. She swore if any other of these damned warriors harmed her family she would kill Viren himself. She didn't care how powerful he was said to be. She would kill him.

Ezran and Janai led the battle. The only true king, and the only true queen. Though Ezran was a child, the armies respected his orders as well as Janai's. As Viren's army slowly fell, a look of fear crossed his face, which he quickly replaced with anger. Claudia charged in on horseback, yelling: "I won't let you hurt my father!"

She stopped in her tracks when she saw Soren. Stumbling, he tried to run to fight more of his enemies, but he fell to the ground. As his hand fell, it revealed a large gash on his stomach. She practically fell off her horse and ran to his side. "Soren!" She didn't care if he was siding with the elves now.

"Clauds?" He whispered weakly. "But what about-" She interrupted his sentence. "I don't care whose side you're on! You are my brother and nothing can hurt you when I'm by your side. Please. Just hold on a little longer. I can't lose you. I won't lose you." She said as tears filled her eyes.

Seeing this, tears came to Viren's eyes too. His son was dying. Again. He had flashbacks to the time he had done unspeakable things to save him from a terrible famine. He couldn't do this. If Claudia couldn't, neither could he. He preformed a spell that let him speak to the minds of anyone he chose within a 5-mile radius.

"Stop!" He ordered. "It's over. I finally see the truth. This war is pointless. It's just a bunch of people hurting other people to win a big fight. I see that now. My daughter had to see it before I could. She ran to her brother's side, even though he was siding with the elves. He has a deadly wound, and I can't just let him die because he is on the opposite side."

He had said this to everyone on the battlefield. Even Rayla, even Callum. This little voice in his head telling him the battle is pointless made him open his eyes. The sun beat down on his motionless body as his elven savior cried next to him. "Rayla?" He said quietly.

"What?" She said not bothering to lift her head. She looked up in realization. "Callum?" She yelled running to his side. He sat up. "How long was I ou-"  He didn't even get to finish his sentence. She pulled him into a tight hug. "Wait, Soren!" She yelled, running down the stairs of the Storm Spire.
