Life is not the same for everyone and life is not too different for anyone, or at least that's what Gabe had felt his entire life, the sweet and sour 21 years bereft life. Everyone wanted to be his friend back in high-school, girls would offer him pleasing offerings, entice him, mostly the rich girls. Boys of his class would take him to night clubs and everything was perfect. Until...he showed his fascination towards pursuing his career as a detective. You'll fail his father's bitter tone was still printed fresh in his memories. You say you got the potential Gabriel? Your indecisiveness would bring you down, flat on the ground.
"Wouldn't this mean, William was not killed at the party?" Archer's heavy voice pulled him out the thoughts and back to the empty lane, walls carved out of bricks, baked probably he thought. Fernman, the constable shifted his eyes and Gabe tucked in his breath, every time Fernman had noticed his overthinking ass. He turned to Archer, one hand he used to brush through his hair and the other had a torch.
"Why?" he asked and kneeled beside Archer, his cotton jacket brushing against Gabriel's naked arm so he tucked it inside Archer's pocket and as Archer was too concentrated on the markings left by the previous officers, smiling he shifted his eyes at the picture in his hand, there was a pepper spray and a cigarette that the bartender said William had on his way out.
"You mean, the very murderer of William who slit his throat would use a pepper spray to kidnap him and then upgrade with a knife?" Gabe muttered and Archer hummed, his head nodding.
"I know sounds weird but there were no blood marks found at the lane nor the party." Archer said pointing at the empty lane and Gabe nodded biting his inner cheek, he wiped the sweat off his fore-head. Inhaling the old breezes of night, Fernman rushed towards them and Gabe realized he might've left when Archer and he were talking.
"Sir! Mr. Nelson calls you both back at the Department." Fernman said, his tone rough and loud.
"What is it?" Archer rose up glancing at Gabe, he scoffed removing the tucked garment of his hoodie.
"Dexter Philip is missing; his father had been to the police station and they think it might've been the same person who killed William."
Gabe squinted his eyes and felt his shoulder muscles tense, it might've been the same person and if it was the same person they suspected then,
"And? Was there any information, useful?" Gabe asked and Fernman nodded his posture straight and hard.
"A person called them, a flower song and Mr. Nelson wants you both there, his parents are making a scene."
"Filtered voice. We have to find him before he slits his neck too."
"Her." Gabe clenched his jaw, staring at the pepper spray photo in Archer's hand. He curled his fingers in a fist, following his instinct he turned to Fernman and said,
"Call Georgia Evans."
"What do you mean?" Archer scoffed and his face turned red at the lack of information Gabe had given out, he did forgot Archer was his partner for now and it sucked. He wanted to do this alone, he might be indecisive but he still liked to handle cases on his own.
"What I think is, the murderer is a female." Archer's eyes crinkled and it made Gabe raged enough to throw hands at him but Mr. Nelson, his uncle would be unhappy to hear this. After all he was his only family.
"So, you recklessly suspect Georgia? Just because she was William's fiancé." Gabe rolled his eyes shifting his eyes at Fernman who kept his gaze behind them. No wonder Mr. Nelson sent him to check on both of them, he saw this coming, that being a team was a bad idea?
"25% of William's shares are under her name, what else do you need to know?" Archer paused and the muscle in his jaw ticked lost in his thought and he looked at Gabe.
"You say the murderer is a female because of a pepper spray?! God! Gabe I thought you were genius."
"Well, you're wrong then, but my conviction won't be changed."
"What if the murderer is a male who technically is misleading us for his identity to be a female?"
"I don't know!" Gabe sighed and gestured Fernman
"Call Georgia Evans for investigation."
"You won't Fernman." Archer yelled and Fernman stood still with his phone, staring at them both.
"You won't?" Gabe furrowed his brows at Fernman who went to call.
"He won't." Gabe glared at Archer,
"Let me handle this." His voice low.
"I won't participate." Archer raised his hands in the air, he looked angry and as much as Gabe hated it, he didn't want to let his conviction go in vain, because if it was really Georgia and even if it wasn't he would forever live in regret.
"Fine. You can sit and watch as usual." Gabe said and squeezed his eyes regretting the last words he used.
"I am sorry, I didn't-"
"Yeah, whatever." Archer said and walking towards the car, Fernman's eyes met Gabe and he instantly dialed the number.
45 minutes of car ride and the moment they entered the Department, the face of the worker's turned pale and worried. On the corner, Ally waved her hand and Gabe pulled Archer with him and even after the harsh words he'd told Archer, he didn't jerk his hand off.
"The department seems dead, what's wrong?" he asked and Ally cleared her throat and flinched as a glass shattered down the ground.
"It's coming from the main office." Archer said and they both ran inside to see the familiar officers and Mr. Nelson and then the well-dressed man shattering the glass, throwing down the files. Gabe instantly pulled him back, the grip seemed to slip away but he held it on.
"Sir, please calm down." Mr. Nelson said and Gabe raised his eyebrows at him.
"My son, my munchkin is missing! William's dead and I won't let my son die as well!" he yelled and Gabe glanced off at Archer who walked to make the man sit down.
"We are trying our best to find him, you have to hold yourself together."
Officer Holden said and Gabe jerked hearing a female voice emerge from behind him.
"Please, Sir. Find our Dexter." She said, her hair were dark and skin wrinkled from the eyes but she didn't look too old.
"We will try our best Mrs. Philip; Mr. Philip hold yourself together." Mr. Nelson said and he breathed heavily taking Gabe's support he got up.
"I want him alive." Mr. Philip's white skin turned red as he broke down helplessly.
"Mr. Brewer, Georgia Evans is here." Fernman said out aloud and Mr. Nelson's eyebrow sharply crinkled looking at Gabe who gulped and pulled Archer out to the investigation room.
