AMAN
Algiers, Algeria.
Guess who is getting married today? It's Aamir and Nasreen's wedding, and you all can't guess how excited I am today. I've been up and about since seven this morning, getting things ready and making sure everything is fine.
After making sure everything is in place, I drive back home to take my bath and get ready. They are getting married in our local masjid, and, Oh my Allah, the place looks so beautiful. It's simple yet classy. My brother is going to be a married man in a few hours. I can already feel the tears brewing in the corner of my eyes.
And guess what? He got a house really close to home, so it's fine. I'm not that sad because I can visit anytime, insha'Allah. I take my bath, put on the dress I'd ordered specially for this event, and run over to the room where some of my cousins are staying to help me with my face.
"Oh my God, Aman, you look so beautiful. Mashaa Allah, you'll make a beautiful bride in shaa Allah," Amira, my cousin, gushes, making me blush.
"Oh, look, she's already blushing. I can't wait for your wedding so I can see what you'll look like then," Aisha jokes. "Come on, enough with the teasing; the date hasn't been set yet, and y'all are already planning my wedding." I sigh, sitting in front of Asma so she can touch up my face.
"Can you hear what she's saying?" Amira says, "Oh, don't mind her; I'm sure her heart is leaping in her chest at the thought of getting married soon." Asma says, using the brush she's holding to push my forehead backwards, causing me to laugh out loud.
When I said I disliked the majority of my cousins, then these ones were excluded. I love them with all my heart. Asma is my agemate, got married last December, and is already spotting a tiny bump. She's already glowing, ma shaa Allah.
Then there's Amira, who isn't married like me; she is so naughty she has refused all the proposals sent her way, but Nanu doesn't bother her because she has a sharp mouth, which is one thing I love about her.
Then Aisha, who is the oldest amongst us and our mama bear, has been married for two years now and has a cute, chubby baby named Uthman. After Asma helps me with my hair, we rush out of the house as we are the last ones left at home.
We do make it to the mosque on time, though. We take our perspective seats behind Aamir as Sheikh Ayman goes on with his Nasiha.
I can't see Nasreen from where I'm sitting, but I'm sure she looks amazing. After the Nasiha, Aamir and Nasreen sign the marriage license and exchange rings, and it's official that my brother is a married man.
He hands her a bouquet of roses and gives her a hug. Oh my goodness, they look so good together that I can feel myself bursting with happiness. We move to the tiny hall next to the masjid, where the Walimah is taking place for lunch.
We aren't many in number, so the hall contained us all just right. Just as I'm helping my aunt hand out the snacks, Naeem comes up to where I'm standing and says, "Assalamu Alaikum." He smiles, and I can feel my cheeks getting warm.
Ya Allah, please let my aunt and Naeem not notice. I pray, "Waalaikumus salam." I respond, clearing my throat, "What can I get you?" I ask, "Anything you give me is fine with me," he says.
At a loss for anything to say and how fast I want to disappear, I get him a pack of snacks and a bottle of the iced cocktail Nana made this morning. Yes, he makes the best cocktails, I tell you.
"Here you go," I say, handing them to him carefully, making sure our hands don't touch. "Thank you, Aman," he says before walking off.
When it's time for Aamir and Nasreen to leave, Nasreen cries her eyes out, making me cry too. After they leave, we all leave too. By the time I get home, I'm as exhausted as I can be. I take a cold shower and go to sleep immediately after dinner.
I am so happy for Aamir.
Finally Aamir is married ehy?
I'm so happy for them🥹
Anyways see you all next time. Don't forget to vote comment and share💕.
