Chapter Nine| Reid
"A guy spoke to me today." I paused my chewing, and turned to my best friend who keeps her eyes on her one and only tatted book, that I know she's read over a hundred times.
"What?" I sat up a little straighter and shuffled closer to her. "What do you mean a boy spoke to you? Who?" She finally turns her attention away from her book and raised a brow.
"Wow, Reid. Don't be too shocked." She replied, rolling her pretty eyes. "It was that new guy, Ivan. He said I have the prettiest eyes he's ever seen" My eye twitched.
"I tell you; you have the nicest eyes. I call you pretty every single day!" I protested, not liking this Ivan one bit. I've only seen him around a few times, and I hate to admit that he's not an ugly guy. The guys about my height, dark hair, blue eyes, pale skin. I think he's Eastern European.
"Yeah, but it's nice coming from someone else other than you for a change. He's really sweet." She smiled in a trance and my frown increased. "He wants to train with me tomorrow morning too, I hope you don't mind if we skip our session." My mouth dropped open and I stared at her in disbelief.
"I do mind!" I blurted out and her eyes widened. "Y-You don't know him properly." I tried to compose myself, but I don't like this at all.
"Well, I'm getting to know him, and from what I've seen, he's really lovely." She sighed at me.
"Because he called you pretty?" This time her head shakes in disbelief and she stands up angrily.
"All I want is for you to be happy that I'm making friends. I'm so lonely in this place, Reid, and as grateful as I am for you, I want more friends like you do! Everybody loves you in this place and they hate me." My face softened, and I stood up towering over her.
"I'm sorry. I just worry about people taking advantage of your kindness, little butterfly." I whispered, grabbing a hold of one of her hands but she surprised me but snatching it away, glaring at me.
"No, you're just jealous!" She exclaimed causing me to stumble back in shock. "Do you know how many times I've had to see you talk to all the girls here, they practically fall at your feet, and I never say a word, but the second someone shows interest in me, you get like this! It's selfish!" She shouted, clutching her book so tightly to the point her knuckles were beginning to turn white.
"Eliana—"
"No! It's okay for you to be friends with everyone and anyone, but when one singular person wants to get to know me, you get all possessive. You're not my boyfriend!" My jaw clenched tightly.
"So, if I'm not your boyfriend, why did you fuck me then?" Her angry face matched my own. The silence between us is tense and there is a lot of anger that has been simmering and waiting to bubble up above the surface.
"We never made anything exclusive. We had sex, and then carried on like we were still just friends. It didn't stop you from talking to the other girls, and do you know how bad that made me feel? It made me feel cheap and used, Reid." I chuckled lowly. "What's so funny? You never call me your girlfriend, to everyone I'm just your best friend. What am I, an easy fuck too?"
"You're more than that, Eliana. Don't be fucking stupid." I argued. "I'd lay my life on the line for you, Eliana. You're the only person I love in this place, and I don't like the fact this Ivan is going to come in between us."
"Unbelievable." She tutted, turning her body away from mine. "You're unbelievable, Reid."
"What? Because I don't want to share my girl with some random fucker, who probably only wants to get in your pants?!" Her head snapped back to me, and I tried to dodge the book that came flying my way, but Eliana is way too skilled to miss, and it bounced right off my head.
