Chapter Thirty | Reid
"You did what?!" Noah yells at me and Eliana like he used to when we would get up to no good as teenagers. "You did fucking what?!" He stares at us with wide eyes in disbelief at the fact we basically stole two kids.
"They weren't safe there," Eliana answers him with a bored expression, clutching my hand and resting her head on my arm. "I'm tired. I wanna sleep."
"Sleep you will not fucking do until you send them back where they can get professional help!" He shouts at her, and my body tenses.
"I'd stop shouting at her, Noah, if I were you. I respect you, but any disrespect towards Ellie and I'll take that respect back." I warn him, staring him down and he swallows hard looking away from my tense gaze. "We had our reasons, that's why you need to listen to us."
"It's always 'we had our reasons' with you two! You're gonna make me go grey!" He points an accusing finger at the two of us. "We have enough on our plate, and we're supposed to be getting on a flight to Aruba tomorrow night. What are we supposed to do with them? Mabel has too much on her plate with King to be looking after them."
"We'll take them with us." Eliana shrugs like it's nothing.
"Elia—"
"Ellie is a level ten. Did you know that?" Noah's face pales and he stumbles back a little, looking as shocked as ever. "We did you a massive favour by removing her out of that building where Baker would have tracked her down and taken her. And not only would he have done that, but he would have killed the rest of those poor children too." I smile proudly at my girl, loving how passionate she is about helping those kids that were just like us.
"And the young boy?"
"Boyfriend I think," I answer, and Eliana rolls her eyes.
"They're best friends. Like Reid and I were."
"So, what you're telling me is history is repeating itself?" Noah raises a brow.
"We won't let it repeat itself the way it did with me and Ellie. They'll take a better path." Noah lets out a sigh of defeat and nods his head.
"Right. Well, if we're going to do this, we will do it properly. Ellie might have got what she wanted but I want you two to keep a safe distance from her. We can't have her get too dependent on you; it won't end well." Eliana lifts her head from my arm and furrows her brows.
"She needs me." She protests Noah's requests. "If I stay away from her, she will notice. She's a smart girl, she'll know."
"She needs to give us information on Baker."
"When she's ready." I can tell Noah is losing patience with my girl, so I decide to step in.
"Look, it's late. Let's all get some rest, and we'll talk in the morning." I speak out just as my butterfly lets out a yawn, and I wrap a protective arm around her. "She's tired. I need to get her to bed."
Noah nods his head, turning on his heel to walk away. I guide Eliana to my room and switch on all the night lights for her.
We both shower together, but I can tell she's too tired to keep her eyes open, so I end up washing her body with a painful erection as I do so. The moment she's tucked in my bed, she smiles lazily at me and opens her arms up for me to cuddle her.
I don't hesitate to climb on top of her and hug her tight. She grunts at my weight but doesn't protest, wrapping herself around me like a koala.
"I'm proud of you," I whisper, nuzzling my face into her soft, sweet-smelling neck. "The way you protect people, it's one of the reasons why I love and admire you so much. You were like that when we first met. Remember you gave me a teddy bear called marshmallow, and you would sneak it into my bed when I couldn't sleep." Eliana's chest vibrates as she lets out an exhale.
