Olivia's povEveryone comes into the pitch, and we all shake the Latvian players hands.
I run up to less and envelop her in a hug.
"I'm so proud, lessi. You don't understand how proud I am right now." I tell her
"I think I do, liv." Less smiles and I hug her again.
"Team talk." We hear Sarina shout and everyone huddled around her.
She congratulates us all on our big win and goes through some stuff before taking a big breath.
"Three confirmed records have been broken tonight. First one, I mean the score line. 20-0 is the highest score line to have ever been achieved by both men and women England teams. Alessia, this match you scored the quickest ever hat trick within eleven minutes. Well done, less." As Sarina says this, I wrap my arm around less' waist and pull her closer to me so I can kiss her cheek. "The final one, liv, you are the first English women to score a triple hat trick, nine goals, in a game. That's a massive achievement, you should be proud of yourself."
Everybody claps and goes over to congratulate me and lessi.
"Liv. There are some reporters who want to interview you." Sarina tells me. "Oh, and how is your hand. There seemed to be lots of blood earlier."
I look at my bandage and see that blood has started to appear through the bandages.
"Apparently I need it being stitched so I'll get it done after the interview." I explain
————————
As I approach where they were having the interviews.
I see Ellen doing one at the moment. At this moment in time, she was the second top goalscorer for England with one goal behind Kelly smith.
"And what about young Olivia James. I mean as we saw today, she's proven to us why she is participating in so many matches, but what's your opinion about her?" The reporter asks Ellen. Ellen didn't know I was here so I would love to know what she says.
"I mean where to start with liv. She's gonna become one of the best strikers the world will see. I mean a triple hat trick tonight, not many people have ever done that. Liv is not only an amazing footballer, but she's an amazing person too. She's like a daughter to me and so I feel so honoured to have watched her grow as a person and a striker." Ellen says
"At just 22 years old, she's had ten England caps and has scored twenty goals. How does that make you feel?"
"I think that just proves to you just how good she is and how good she will become. Like you said, she's just 22 years old and she's yet to reach her peak. There's only one word that comes to mind when I think of that and it's pride. I'm so proud of everything that liv has achieved, and I can't wait to see her grow even more as a footballer." Ellen finishes
"I couldn't have done it without you though." I add quickly
Ellen turns around to see me and puts her arm around my shoulder.
"I'm so proud of you, kid." Ellen whispers in my ear.
"Thanks, El." I whisper back
"Ellen, is it alright if I have a quick interview with Olivia?" The reporter asks ellen
"Yes, of course it is. I'll see you later kid, alright?" Ellen kisses my head in a motherly way before making her way back to the changing rooms.
"First of all, congratulations and well done for tonight. It was an incredible match to watch and I'm guessing an even better match to play. Just tell us how you are feeling right now." He begins
"Yeah, buzzing. I mean, it really was an incredible match to play and to share so many memories of tonight with so many amazing players is brilliant." I respond
"This match has already gone down in history for three things, its score line, the quickness of Alessia Russo's hat trick and of course your three hat tricks. As captain for this match, how does it feel to know that your team managed to get such a high score line?"
"I mean, I just feel pride. I'm proud of every single one of them. The effort they put into, not only to the match itself, but also the training we do. It's always 100% and I think they prove that when it comes down to matches like this one." I reply
"Is it alright if we talk about Alessia Russo?" He questions and I nod. "Of course she's your girlfriend of nearly eight years now, and during this match you shared a moment of pure love for one another after she scored her first goal. I mean you must have felt such pride for her, didn't you?"
"100%. At that moment, the only thing I felt was pride and the fact that she went on to score two more and break a record just makes me unbelievably happy for her."
"Now, we're running out of time here so it's time to finish the interview. But before we do, it's a great honour to tell you that you have received player of the match." He tells me
"Thank you." I smile
"Now, I really look forward to seeing what you do for the lionesses, Olivia. I wish you all the best. I'm sure you are going to go back to such a loud changing room now, aren't you?"
"Yeah, probably." I laugh
"You are going to do great things, Liv."
"Thank you." I say and walk away with my player of the match trophy.
————————
"There's our player of the match." Rach cheers as I enter the changing rooms. Everyone is so happy and they are all dancing round the room.
I go and sit next to less.
"I need to go to the ambulance and get it stitched apparently." I tell less
"Livvy, you should have gone earlier. Look at the amount of blood you've lost."
I started to unravel the bandage that was on my hand to reveal a deep gash that was clearly from a stud.
It was still bleeding and the bandage has done nothing.
"Does anyone have a spare shirt liv can have for her hand?" Less asks everyone
"I have one." G says and comes over to us. "Ouch, liv, was that from that tackle?"
"Yeah, it was." I say and I wrap the short around my hand.
"We'll be back soon, we'll just get liv all stitched up."
————————
The paramedics stitch my hand all up and wrap it all up.
It looked terrible and would leave a scar on my hand forever but at least the bleedings stopped now.
They ruled out the possibility that there would be any nerve or muscle damage so I got lucky there.
