This moment in my life was foggy and unclear. I twirled the end of my long hair with my pale fingertips. Dr. and I walked along, him in front of I, his eyes locked in the direction we were headed. I looked down at the gravel. I think at this point I considered this almost like a job. He was my boss. The sun was beginning to set. This will be a short job. This will all end soon.

As Dr. and I continued on, we heard a "Hey!" from behind us. I sharply turned around, startled.

"Where you goin', boy?" A rough looking man and, I assume, his girlfriend emerged from the end of the alleyway. The setting sun made their figures silhouettes, but as they got closer I could make out more details.

They slowly strutted to Dr. and I.

"Asked you a question." The woman spitted out. Why was she only talking to me? Her voice was low and her hair was long and blonde. She wore a wife-beater and jeans that were definitely not her size, being held up by a single studded belt.

I stood silent, mortified, casting quick eyes at the brick beside me, looking for a miracle escape. The man followed close behind her. She approached me with no caution, stopping a foot in front of me. That's the kind of confidence I hate. She was the "in your face" kind.

l managed to mutter "Uh-m" before turning to Dr. Death. He appeared scared too.
"They can't see me, Adam."
........Fuck........
Regardless of him being invisible to them, I could see him getting shaken up by the odd occurrence.

The sun was going down and my heart was beating faster than I would like and I'm too frightened to know what to do or if i should even run. But that's what I did. Without another word I sprinted in the other direction.

It won't end soon, I suppose. I realize this is only just beginning.

I ran but without notice, the man was behind me. Then, his hands were grabbing at my shoulders. The dirt of alleyway met with my right cheek in a hard collision as my body hit the ground. Dust rushed up my nose and some got in my eyes, forcing me to squint and blink rapidly until it was all out as I was attempting to crawl away or get back up. He was on top of me. Next thing I knew, the woman was reaching into my pockets and ripping my clothes in search for money or any possessions of value I assumed as I laid against my will on my belly, it scratching agaist the ground. I fought back with force, managed to flip over to my side, freed my wrists from the man's grip, and socked the woman right in the jaw as just as she found my wallet. She flung back and hit the hard ground. It almost looked animated. Her boyfriend was still trying to hold me down but I wouldn't let up. All I could think was
Dr. Death, please help.
He came running to my rescue, almost like an angel. The irony.
I thought about what he had said as I was being beaten down. The woman came back stronger and I had nothing left to do but lay there and block my face and ribs with an occasional swing back. I was panicking and thought I was really going to die again. I didn't know what else to do but kick and swing at them at this point. I'm surprised that I fought back as well as I did since I noticed no major injuries. My heart was racing. I needed to think if a solution and quick.
"Adam, you can defeat them now! Make your choice!" Dr. Death said from the sidelines of the attack. I knew... and he did too. I looked over to him, confirming the deal. He smiled. I felt the revolver on my side. The two criminals let up a bit after they realized I had nothing to offer but my wallet. I was in excruciating pain and had stopped fighting back. But only for a moment. I laid quietly on my side. I felt clever. They attempted to sprint into the other direction, wallet in hand, once they saw my bruised body surrender. In that moment, I pulled the revolver and made three shots from where I was laying. The man fell and the other stopped running. I made another shot and the woman collapsed a few feet in front of him, letting my wallet go on her way down.

In that moment, I opened the door for bloody tragedy. In a split second, I shattered my mirror and in the process, cut my hands on the shattered pieces in which I saw the price I would pay.

The sun was down and the alleyway was dark. I looked at Dr. Death as he attempted to carry me to somewhere safe. I grew tired and dizzy.
"You hit your head pretty bad, Adam. Don't worry I'll-"
I zoned his voice out and looked at his face looking down at my own. Maybe he is an angel.
Goodnight.
