Tony pulled into the driveway of our house and my eyes glowed at the familiarity of it. I could feel Tony's eyes on me as he parked the car in the garage. His parents parked their car behind ours.
"I will try to keep my mom from asking to many questions. She just has always been curious and it can get out of hand." Tony explained, taking my hand in his. I nodded, my mind wandering to the last time that Renee came over. It had been over a month since we had last seen them because I was so uncomfortable when we were together. Renee was too nosy and always wanted to know who her son was marrying and all the details about the girl. I loved Renee like a mother but sometimes she asked too many personal questions.
"Yeah." I agreed, leaning over the consul and kissing him on the cheek. He grinned and turned the car off. I opened my car door and walked to the second car door.
"Hello, my sweet little boy." I said to Brodie who had his eyes open, looking up at me. I smiled and unhooked him.
"Mommy!" Claire screamed with a smile on her face. She ran from Renee and Todd's car and to me.
"Hey, baby girl." I said, giggling. Claire grabbed onto my hand that was free. Tony came up behind me and grabbed the car seat from my arms. I silently thanked him and lead Claire up the stairs into our house. She tried to grab the knob on the door but wasn't tall enough.
"Too short." Claire commented. I laughed and nodded, opening the door for her. She ran inside and ran around to her room.
"Aubrey?" I heard Renee say from the stairs.
"Yeah?" I answered, looking outside.
"Do you need help bringing stuff in? Todd is going to bring our stuff in so I could bring in yours?" Renee questioned, putting her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, that would awesome. Thank you!" I replied. Renee nodded and walked to our car. I walked back inside and to where Tony set the car seat down. Brodie was crying and Tony looked clueless even though he had taken care of Claire three years ago.
I picked Brodie up, carefully and rocked him back forth. He started to quiet down and breathe a little easier. Tony looked at me in amazement and I smiled at him.
"You're so good." Tony said.
"Thanks." I laughed.
Renee and Todd walked in, finally and set their bags down. Renee walked over to me and watched Brodie as I rocked him. Her face was showing pure joy and pride.
Tony was the only one of his siblings to have children. He had a sister and two brothers. He was the oldest and I was always jealous at the amount of family that he had. I didn't have any and he had a whole dynasty of family.
"It's time for my younger children to have some babies. I want more grandchildren." Renee said, glancing around our house and taking in all the family photos I insisted on having in just the living room.
"Renee! The amount we have now is fine. Plus Aubrey just had a baby so let's enjoy Brodie for as long as we can." Todd said, walking into the living room. Renee turned around and squinted her eyes at her husband. I turned around and smiled down at the floor.
"I'm not sure Isaac, Gavin and Maya are even ready to even think about kids, mom. Isaac maybe because he just got married but Gavin and Maya not anytime soon, I presume." Tony explained. He put his arm around me and I leaned into him.
"Oh I know, I know." Renee said. "I'm going to find Claire." She walked out of the living room, her husband shaking his head as she left. Tony let out a laugh. I elbowed him and walked into the kitchen.
