The Rescue (Multi POV)

Keefe's POV

I had just found out I had a sister. Now she was gone. Hell, I had even started to like Tam. Both of them are gone and I cried. Hard. For hours. Foster did her best to cheer me up, but it didn't work. Foxfire started up again and she all but dragged me with her. I remember when she was the Great Zombie Foster. I was probably similar, but I couldn't find it in me to care. My sister was gone. She was a light in my world that I didn't even know I had needed. Alden came by Candleshade one day. I don't even know how long it's been since her funeral, let alone the day in Atlantis.

"Good news, Keefe," he says.

"What news could possibly be good, Alden," I ask miserably.

"Y/n isn't dead," he responds.

"What?" I ask, immediately sitting up. He nods.

"Around a mountain, there was a message in Everblaze. 'Tam and Y/n are in the facility in this circle. Send help.' I guarantee she'd want you to help in the rescue mission. Sophie, Fitz, Dex, Biana, and Marella are going as well. I recommend you go get ready. They're going tonight. And look more presentable. You look like you were chewed up by a T-rex," he says. I instantly dash to my room and get ready. I hear Alden laughing behind me but don't care. She's alive. I make myself look like myself because I really did look like I was chewed up by a T-rex. I go to Havenfield, since that's a safe bet as to where we're meeting, and I was right. Sophie instantly hugs me and I hug her back, twirling her around.

"Sorry that I've been a zombie. It's hard losing someone you just met and loved," I apologize.

"Don't apologize, Keefe," Fitz says. "We all understand the feeling. Biana and I lost Sophie and our dad. Dex lost hope that he would be saved from those douchebags within a few weeks. Sophie lost you, me, my dad, and her human family. Linh lost her brother. Marella lost her mom. Everyone here understands how you feel. We're just glad to have you back, man." I smile and hug him.

"Good to be back," I mutter.

"Enough of this stuff. Get my brother back and if you bring him back harmed from your escape, all of your pillows will be soaked for months," Linh says. She's not going since Tam wouldn't want her to put herself in danger and she didn't want to risk him coming back and her not being there.

"Good luck," Edaline says. We all levitate up since Foster is teleporting us. We all help so that it's easier. She tells us when to drop and no one screams as we drop into the void.

Sophie's POV

I imagine the place Alden showed me on the cameras and we arrive. It's really cold and we all start shivering. Dex brings out a tool he made recently to help with this and turns it on. He leads us towards the mountain. I glance at Keefe and I see we're both really confused. He leads us straight to the wall and mutters a few incoherent things. Suddenly, there's a door in front of us. Keefe pulls out a cloth that is covered in blood. I look away as he wipes it on the DNA sensor that was there.

"Come on," he whispers. We follow Dex through the halls as he leads us to the first sign of life he saw on his device. I didn't care to figure out the name since I was so worried about Keefe. He leads us to a door and he opens it. In the middle of the room isn't Y/n or Tam. It's Alvar. He's tortured and covered in blood.

"Alvar," I whisper. Dex deactivates the shield, and we leave him to get later.

"Come on. There's another not far from here," Dex whispered. We follow him to another door. I start to get suspicious by how easy this is. We open the door and in the center of the floor is Tam. He looks really pale and weak. I feel a pang of sympathy. Biana goes over and he flinches when she comes near.
