"Tam," you whisper as you wake up. You look over and see him sleeping peacefully. You smile slightly and squeeze his hand. He wakes up.

"Y/n," he whispers with his morning voice. It's too hot.

"Hey," you say. "How are you?"

"In between. How about you?" he asks.

"Same. I'm hurting all over but overall decent."

"Della's making mallowmelt. Do you want any?"

"Of course! And some Youth. Maybe cinnacreme, too. I'm hungry. Really hungry."

"I can tell." He walks off and you watch him go. The moment he's out of sight, your face twists with pain. You're still in so much pain and you're doing your best to hide it. Tam comes back in the room as a few tears roll down your cheeks from the pain you're in. He sets the mallowmelt and Youth down on the table next to the couch and wipes your tears with his thumb.

"1-10?" he asks.

"9" you whisper. Elwin comes in and gives you some painkillers. You happily take them and sigh a breath of relief as the pain numbs.

"You're brave, you know," Elwin says, giving you some more elixirs.

"What do you mean?" you ask.

"You rated a ten a nine. That's incredibly brave," he explains. You shake your head.

"Not bravery," you mutter. "I'm saving my ten. For when it is truly deserved. Not for this."

"What would be a ten?" he asks.

"Losing Tam in some way, shape, or form," you respond. Tam smiles lightly.

"Same. I would be heartbroken beyond the pain scale," he says. You smile as well.

"Now," you say, sitting up. "Where's my food?" Tam laughs as he hands it to you, and you gratefully eat. He laughs again. Keefe comes down from the guest room he was in and sees you eating.

"A little hungry, sis?" he asks. You nod as you keep eating everything that is given to you. Tam's doing the same.

"Neither of us have eaten for I don't even know how long. They would give us food occasionally, but we were both two drugged to know how far apart the meals were, if you can call them meals," Tam explains.

"You guys were in that place for six months," Fitz says as he comes down. You both stop eating.

"Months?" you ask.

"Months," Sophie agrees from the kitchen.

"When did you get there?" Tam asks.

"Three minutes ago," Sophie responds. "You two were too busy eating."

"Don't say you can blame us. You were the same, from what I've heard from Keefe, after you and Dex were kidnapped," you retaliate. She shrugs and continues eating.

"I want you two," Elwin says, pointing to you and Tam. "To come to the Healing Center. You don't even have to come in uniform. I just want to be able to keep an eye on you two at Foxfire in case we have another Foster Emergency." Keefe snorts a laugh and Sophie glares at him.

"You know that the possibilities are high, Sophie!" Keefe says in defense.

"Doesn't mean you can tease me about it!" she retaliates. Everyone sits back to watch.

"Why can't I?" Keefe asks.

"Because I'm your girlfriend!" Sophie argues.

"That gives me all the more reason to tease you!" Keefe retaliates.

"You should be making me happy, Keefe! Not teasing me about my clumsiness!"

"It's funny! And you like it! You can't lie to an Empath, Foster. No matter how much you try."

"I don't like it!"

"She likes it," you stage-whisper to Tam, causing him and Keefe to laugh and Sophie to glare at you. You smile at her.

"I don't like it!" she yells.  She hides her face in her hair.

"You're cute when you blush," Keefe says, causing her to blush harder. You laugh and get up to shower.

"What are you doing?" Tam asks.

"Going to take a shower. Unless I can't do that because I'll faint or something," you say sarcastically.

"You could," he responds.

"I'll yell if I feel woozy and cover up with a towel," you say. You turn on your heel and go to the shower in a guest room, throwing on a dress (or shirt if you're a tomboy like me) and either leggings, shorts, or pants. You come out and Tam is looking at you. He looks worried.

"What?" you ask.

"It's... really fucking complicated," Keefe says from behind Tam. You get really confused and start to walk past the two boys. Tam grabs your waist.

"What?" you ask again.

"Like Keefe said. It's really fucking complicated. And I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want me to kill them in front of you so I'm holding onto you for emotional support," he explains. You nod understanding. Keefe leads you two through the halls of Everglen and when you get down there, you see all the people who tortured you and can feel the anger radiating off of Tam. Your own fists clench without you being able to control it and shadowflux and Everblaze arrows form behind you. All of them aimed directly at your mom's heart.

A/N: This is kind of just a filler chapter. I've recently lost a little motivation to write and have had even less time than motivation. School sucks. I also have rehearsal for a play I'm in for theatre from 3:15 to 5:15 practically every day. Saturdays, Sundays, and any other breaks off only. I've been so exhausted it's honestly absurd. I also haven't been getting much sleep, so I've been living off of caffeine. Sorry for it being so short. Love you all!❤️
