Confessing (Mostly Tam's POV)

You, Tam, Linh, Sophie, and Keefe arrive at Havenfield and Edaline sees you guys from her post at Verdi's pen. You're, admittedly, a little tired from levitating and all the commotion that had happened. Edaline comes running over and takes Sophie, Keefe and Linh from you and Tam and you lean against him. You guys all walk inside, and you get as far as the couch before your knees buckle, causing you to start to fall. Tam catches you and brings you over to the couch where you cuddle.

"That was exhausting," you hear the familiar voice of Grady say as he enters with the others. Sophie, Keefe and Linh are spotted, and Elwin is called. You end up falling asleep while cuddling Tam.

Tam's POV

Y/N just fell asleep and I'm starting to fall asleep, too. That's when I hear something strange. I can't place it but it sure as hell wakes me up.

"What was that?" I ask.

"I don't know," Edaline says, looking out the various windows. She gets a confused look on her face.

"What?" I ask.

"Alden's here. With all the Councilors," she replies. I get confused and hug Y/n tighter. She repositions slightly as the Councilors enter. They don't look happy.

"Alden," Grady says, greeting his friend.

"Grady. I don't come bearing kind news," Alden says rather vaguely.

"What do you mean?" I ask. Councilor Clarette jumps, clearly not having realized I was awake.

"I had thought everyone was asleep. You all look quite tired," she says.

"Didn't mean to scare you," I say. Just because I don't like them, doesn't mean I don't respect them.

"It's about that Sencen girl," Bronte interrupts. Oh, what I would give to shove a cactus up his butt sometimes. A small, amused smile crosses Oralie's face as she senses my distaste.

"What's about Y/n?" I ask.

"It's about how she is a threat to elven kind," Bronte responds. Anger flares in me as my jaw tenses.

"How on Earth is she a threat?" I hiss.

"The girl has dangerous abilities and was with the Neverseen," Emery says. Bronte looks as though he is about to explode as my anger only intensifies.

"She was tortured, abused, and tested in the Neverseen. She wasn't allowed out. Ever. Sure, she has dangerous abilities. I won't deny that. But, if you think about it, all abilities can be dangerous in some way. She was never with the Neverseen. She was held there as a prisoner. So was I, if you don't remember. So. I ask again. How on Earth is she a threat?" The shadows in the room have increased as I start to lose control. One of them gulps loudly.

"Are you disagreeing with the Council, Mr. Song?" Bronte asks.

"Ack. Don't call me that. It's Tam. Nothing less, nothing more. And I am. Because it's cruel, what you're accusing her of. Everyone in this room and throughout the world is a danger to elven kind. Humans, ogres, goblins, dwarves, gnomes, the countless amounts of animals, hell, even elves are a danger to elven kind. The world isn't perfect. And you're singling out one person who is really more of a potential threat because she's on the right side of this war. She will help in any way possible and won't let anyone bring her down," I rant. The shadows have increased, and I take a few deep breaths to get myself under control. Y/N repositions again with a slight whimper. Is she having a nightmare?

"Well. I think we should have another vote. After those compelling words, it's probably a good thing to reconsider," Emery says.

"May I speak first?" Alina asks. I struggle to keep control just from her voice. It's sickening.
