~~~Time skip to next day, first period~~~
Your POV
Tam and I enter Robotics, which is our new first period, and sit down next to each other again. Someone enters and I can tell she's an elf. Tam and I exchange a glance then look at the new girl. She is wearing a hoodie and some skinny jeans. She has long, wavy, black hair, electric blue eyes that contrast perfectly with her tanned complexion, and she honestly looks really good.
"Oh, hello! What's your name, dear?" Ms. Park asks, being a lot kinder to this new girl than she was to Tam and me yesterday.
"Amra," the girl responds.
"Are you also from England?" Ms. Park asks.
"Yes," Amra responds. Why does her voice sound so familiar? Maybe I heard her talking to friends during the short time I was at Foxfire.
"Why don't you sit next to the other two from England, then? Y/n. Tam. Raise your hands," Ms. Park orders. We hesitantly raise our hands, not trusting this new girl. She sits next to us and gives us a warm smile. Tam grabs my hand and I squeeze it, silently communicating my mistrust.
"Hi! I'm Amra. Could I sit with you guys at lunch?" she asks.
"Sorry. Our tables a little full," I politely decline, still mistrusting. A frown appears for half a second.
"Oh, that's alright. With whom, might I ask?" she asks, a smile plastered on her face.
"Our friends," Tam responds.
"And what are your friends' names exactly?" Amra asks.
"You'll likely meet them throughout the day," I state, avoiding the question. I see her nails are black. It looks like nail polish, but I don't know if it is. Who is this girl and why is she so familiar?
"Well, it was nice meeting you two. Do you want to hang out after school? We could have a lot of fun. You can even bring your friends along!" she offers.
"We're good, thanks. Already have plans," Tam declines.
"Could I join you? I'm sorry if I seem like I'm being a bother. It's just... new school. I don't have any friends," she states.
"And we're introverts," I say, pointing to Tam and myself. We get started on the assignment, making catapults with a Lego EV3, when Amra's hand touches mine, I realize it's cold like Tam's always is. Is she a Shade? There's not a lot of those...
"Are you a Shade?" I ask her quietly in the Enlightened Language.
"You could say that," she responds. We keep working, me being much less trusting of her now, what with my experiences with Umber. I still don't entirely trust Lady Zillah, and she's really nice. Tam grabs my hand and squeezes it. The bell rings and Tam and I gather our stuff, subtly using telekinesis to help because why not? We head to second hour, which is now Math.
"Everyone, please take a seat!" Ms. Hansen yells over the crazy second hour class.
"How do y'all have so much energy?" I ask, taking a drink of my bottle of Youth. My Imparter goes off and I nearly choke on my Youth.
"May I use the restroom?" I ask, shadow-whispering to Tam the situation.
"Yes. Go," Ms. Hansen excuses. I leave to the nearby stairwell, since it's empty and I should be able to get some privacy.
"Hello?" I ask as I respond.
"Y/n. Is Tam with you?" Tiergan asks.
"No. I'll explain once I get back to class. It's 9:05 am here," I respond.
"It's about Linh," Tiergan states.
"Let me get him," I say. I shadow-whisper to Tam.
"Tam, it's Tiergan. He's hailing about Linh. I'm in the stairwell," I shadow-whisper. About thirty seconds later, Tam enters, and he looks worried, his eyes darker than they were this morning.
"What about her?" he asks as he sits next to me.
"She was going to a sleepover at our house, and she disappeared during Base Quest. We searched the entire property but couldn't find her. We don't mean to set back any progress you guys have had, which I can tell is a lot, but we genuinely don't know where she is," Biana explains as she takes Tiergan's Imparter. Sophie takes it from Biana.
"We think she was taken, Tam. We don't know where she is," she says, trying to be nice about it. Tam's eyes flash straight to pitch black, and I sigh as we lose all of our progress. The entire school darkens, and I can tell by the sudden change of mood from everyone that is radiating out of classrooms. I grab his hand in an attempt to calm him down, but he embraces me, thoroughly shocking me since I wasn't expecting it. I mean. Would you? This is Tam Song we're talking about. Tam Song. He's not really the type for hugs. Then, I feel my shoulder getting wet and realize Tam is crying. I hug him back.
"Do everything you can to find her," I say into the Imparter before clicking off. I do everything I can to try to soothe him, but his body still shakes with his silent sobs. I sigh and focus on his emotions. I can feel the heartbreak at the thought of losing his sister, one of the only good things in his life and the only good thing that's been there with him through everything, and I feel sorry for him. I pull out my phone, something I got to blend in with the humans, and shoot a text to the gc with Sam, Colby, Nate, Alex and Tam.
Me: Tam just found out his sister has disappeared. We're in the stairway near math. I'm going to need help calming him down.
Sam: omw
Colby: Coming
Nate: I'll bring my guitar
Alex: I'd come, but my teacher is strict. She won't let us leave during a test for anything. Sorry
Me: It's alright, Alex
A few minutes later, the three are here and Nate starts playing his guitar. I start humming along to the tune and Nate starts singing. After a few minutes, Tam's stopped, and he looks behind him to see the three of them. They give him small smiles and he gives a rare one back. Then he looks at me.
"I texted them," I admit.
"I know. My phone was vibrating in my pocket," he states. I smile innocently and Tam chuckles.
"You're lucky you're hot," he says. I laugh and we all head back to our classes, Tam putting his hood up. We walk in.
"Hood down, Tam. You know the rules," Ms. Hansen states.
"You try to force him to take his hood off and you will face my wrath," I warn casually, Tam and I sitting down. Ms. Hansen walks behind us when she's going around to make sure we're all doing our work and reaches to take Tam's hood off. I notice this and grab her wrist.
"Don't," I warn, glaring at her.
"It's the rules, Ms. Sencen. What kind of a last name even is that?" Ms. Hansen asks.
"The kind that if the person bears it, you know not to mess with them," I warn, heating my hand up enough to give her a slight burn, making it seem like I just twisted to bruise it.
"Did you just assault me?" she asks.
"No," I lie casually. I had been using shadows to block the camera, so no one has any evidence. I let go of her wrist and she walks off. I sigh, knowing that today is going to be a long day.
