The 250s are lined up and I'm standing with Jason, still in the pits, but with a great view of the track. With Hunter and Jett both being in the same motos it's hard for me to watch both of them. Hunter got third and Jett ended up getting second because he went down in a corner and then his bike wouldn't start. I stay in my spot even after Jason leaves me to go get ready for his moto and I feel two presences standing on either side of me. "You guys both did great out there." A chorus of thank yous answers me and I smile to myself. Jason gets first off the holes hot but ultimately comes in 5th. We head back to the rig and I run up to Jason and give him a hug. "Congrats Jay, you did so good!" He laughs and hugs me back. "Thank you D."
It was time for the second motos and Jett was a little nervous I could tell. I go over to him and gently rest my hand on his back. "Jett is everything okay?" He turns to face me. "Yeah I just really want to win overall today. If I don't, I don't want you thinking it's your fault and never come to a race again." I chuckle a little and grab his hand, squeezing it. "I appreciate that Jett but now I won't think that so don't be nervous. Just go out there and do your best." He nods and mounts his bike as Hunter does the same thing. I give Jett a nod and he nods back. I then go over to Hunter and wish him luck telling him to stay safe. He thanks me and they both ride off. I feel brave enough to venture out in the crowd with everyone else to try and find a spot to watch with a better view. I shoot Jason a text letting him know I may not be back right away after his moto cause I'm going into the crowd. I find a spot on a set of really crowded bleachers and realize I'm standing next to AP's wife. I move a little closer to her and whisper. "Excuse me, are you AP's wife?" She giggles and nods. "Yeah I am." "Hi, I'm Jason's cousin." "Oh hello! You're the girl who's been hanging around with the Lawrence brothers right?" I nod and silently thank her that she didn't mention just Jett. "Yeah that's me. Can I ask you something?" She nods and waits for me to go on. "How do you deal with all the negativity?" She sighs and gives me a small smile. "Yeah I saw all the comments and pictures of you two. Well I didn't have to deal with it that much because Aaron and I were together when he went pro. And Aaron isn't Jett. Of course he is to me but not to the teenage girls. Just ignore them honey. That's the best advice I can give you. They're people who know nothing about you as a person and are only jealous because you get to hangout with their idol." "So I shouldn't stop hanging out with him?" She laughs and shakes her head. "God no. Not unless you want to. You have to trust your heart on things like these. If you really enjoy his company then stay around him." "Thank you." "Of course honey." I turn to the track feeling more confident in my decision to stay friends with Jett. I watch the moto and Jett and Hunter are battling with each other the whole time but Jett pulls off the win. I cheer with everyone else as he flies over the finish line. I see some girls looking at me and talking to themselves and I try to ignore it. I'm watching Jason's moto and I see Jett and a security member coming towards me. I smile and wave at him and he smiles back. He stands next to me and grabs my hand and squeezes it. I smile and squeeze it back. I see people staring at us but I don't care. As long as I'm with Jett I feel safe and as though no one can touch me. This moto Jason got third and I went crazy for him. He's gonna be so happy with his finish. Jett tugs on my hand and leads me back to the pits, following the security member in front of him.

I find Jason and run to him again pulling him into a big hug. He's got a huge smile on his face as he hugs me back. "Did you see that finish?" "Hell yeah I did, you did so great out there Jay." "Thank you D." I turn to Jett and Hunter. "You guys did amazing too today." "You have to come to every race now. You're my lucky charm." "Yeah until school starts up again in the fall. Right now I'm just doing online classes so I can make my own school times as long as all my work is done." He nods and falters a little. "I'll still come to as many races as I can when school does start up again but I won't be able to make every race." I squeeze his hand, that I'm still holding, in reassurance and he perks up a little. I say goodbye to Hunter and Jett pulls me aside. "Delilah, I know we haven't known each other for long, but would you want to go on a date with me?" My heart drops to my butt and I swallow hard. "Jett I would love to but I'm not even thinking about dating anyone until after I graduate in December." He frowns and says goodbye quickly leaving me standing there feeling like a terrible person. I do have feelings for Jett I really do. But I can't manage a boyfriend, schoolwork, and traveling every weekend. It's just gonna be that much harder not to give in because I'll see him every weekend for the summer at least.
