Chenle had to walk home, considering his house was at least 30 minutes away he considered it his parents form of punishment.

He had his headphones on, listening to some autumnal tunes to get him into the mood. He quite liked Cigarettes After Sex, or some Tv girl when it was a little bit darker in the night.

As he walked by the river, his feet crunched the leaves below him, kicking a couple of them as he walked. His guitar was strapped to his back as always, though it was quite uncomfortable to carry for such a long way.

Chenle heard his phone ding, checking it as he walked.

WED 16:44

Dad: Zhong chenle. why aren't you home yet?

He turned off his phone, letting his music to continue playing. He kept hearing text tones, knowing they were messages from his father.

WED 16:50

Dad: Chenle. We have church. Where are you?

WED 16:55

Dad: Zhong Chenle. Seriously. Your mother is getting worried. Message me.
Hello???

Chenle ignored him the rest of the walk, not wanting to great even more conflict. He was tired of it. He walked up his driveway, taking one of his headphones out as he saw his parents at the door.

"where have you been." His father spoke, in his grumbly, stern voice.

"walking."

"honey me and your father have been waiting here for you." His mother explained, she exclusively spoke in chinese to her family.

"the detention was today?" Chenle spoke back, slinging the guitar off his shoulder.

His parents stood in silence, realising they had both forgotten. They ultimately blamed chenle for not reminding them.. although he had this morning.

"your siblings are in the car. Go." His father spoke, snatching the boys guitar and placing it inside quickly.

Chenle hated when his dad was angry, which seemed to be most of the time when they conversed.

Chenle sat at the front of the church, right next to his mother. He felt so uncomfortable sat in his uniform, usually he would change before church but with the situation as it was he didn't want to make his father even later.

As his dad was the priest, he would usually work hard preparing each ceremony. chenle felt awkward when he made them late, all the usual people waiting outside for his father. Chenle just had to bow at them in silence, holding his little brothers hand.

Now that he was sat in the pews, watching his father talk on about loyalty and other things he was not interested in, he wished he was anywhere else. Preferably playing his guitar, even better if it was for someone else. His parents loved that he was musically talented but they very much preferred him behind the piano rather than his electric guitar.

"hyung?" He heard a whisper from his brother. He nodded, leaning over for his sibling to whisper in his ear.
"when is this over? i'm hungryyyy" Chenle had to stop himself from giggling, replying with a quick "soon, don't worry."
