Will POV
"William Drake Farnsworth, where is she??"
My sister was racing around my apartment and I laughed while relaxing on the couch with a beer. It was fun to get her riled up, especially when I knew I was about to blow her mind with my news.
Addison showed up a few minutes ago and immediately dropped her bag at the door and started looking everywhere, her brown eyes roaming my apartment while I tried to keep from laughing.
"Just relax, Addy. I need to talk to you first."
She peeked in the bathroom and let out a huff, crossing her arms then pouting. "Is everything okay? The photo you sent made it seem like she is happy to have found you, too... And oh my god, she really is gorgeous, Will. I mean, you described her but wow. Those green eyes, and her dimples? Oh, is she tall? Cause you're, like, giraffe tall... "
Her fingers twisted together nervously and I took a deep breath. "Addison? Mystery girl's name is Sophie Green."
"Oh my god... Jake's daughter?" Addy's eyes widened with a gasp as she dropped on the couch next to me. "Holy shit. How did we not even think of her?"
I nodded, letting out a laugh, "The youngest Green daughter, yeah. She started college courses in high school and is going to finish her degree by the end of this year."
Addy scrunched her nose at me, tying her long waves into a ponytail while considering the update, "Wait, but she's just a bit older than me, right? I think I remember Mom saying something catty about how women shouldn't be allowed to run their own businesses until they are at least 21 after she ran into Mrs. Green one day awhile ago."
"She's 20," I confirmed, groaning at the way our Mother loves to punch down at others. "But there's more...."
"Is she single?"
"Addy..."
"Oh, god, she's married, isn't she? Did she cheat on her partner with you?!"
"Ad...."
"She didn't want anything to do with you! Oh, Will, I'm so sorry... I guess it's good she gave you a pity date at least and selfie to remember her..."
"Addis..."
"Please, tell me Will, is she gay?"
I raised my hand and shoved it onto her mouth gently.
This is the only way to shut my sister up sometimes.
"She's pregnant."
My words sank in as I pulled my hand back and I saw the emotions cross her face one at a time. Surprise, then uncertainty, then anger... before realization dawned on her.
"Holy fucking shit" She leaned back on the couch and I grabbed my phone, pulling up a video I recorded from our ultrasound.
Addy watched the screen and had tears in her eyes as I turned up the sound so she could hear Milo's heartbeat. It took me a couple of minutes before it crossed my mind to capture the moment but I was so glad I did. Sophie's voice in the background softly cooed, "Hey there, little love..." as our son moved around on the screen, seeming to wave before one of his thumbs went into his mouth.
I let everything settle over my sister and saw the question in her eyes.
"She's due in a month, Addy... I know the baby is mine. Sophie insisted on a paternity test regardless for legal reasons which isn't needed but just... yeah. Reminded me she has her head on straight."
"So there's no chance?"
"Nope. I trust her. Addy, we've talked about that night so many times and how I felt this cosmic connection to a stranger, not to mention the way we spent hours talking with the kind of chemistry I never knew was possible. The moment I saw her yesterday in the lobby while she was getting stuff brought inside everything came flooding back." My voice cracked and I swiped the screen to replay the ultrasound video. "I just saw her. She was wearing a big hoodie and invited me to meet at her place so we could talk. When I got there she wasn't wearing the hoodie and it all washed over me."
