SOPHIE POV
"I'll be fine, Addy, just enjoy late lunch and shopping with Dustin. You start in a couple days and he knows how to help you get prepared. Just text if you need anything."
She grinned and headed to Will's apartment to get changed after we spent the morning doing some baking. Addison has now made homemade chocolate chip cookies that were perfectly baked and even put together a stir fry the other night for dinner. Having more independence and the ability to spread her wings looked good on her, too. Addy's long hair had more shine and she was well rested, enjoying the privacy of Will's apartment while getting plenty of time with Milo during the day.
I surveyed my apartment and had to grin. Milo had taken over our lives. Every surface had a spare pacifier or burp cloth or blanket. He was almost 2 weeks old and we had slipped into an easy routine.
Will and I get up at 6 then make breakfast before he leaves for school by 645 around when I start nursing Milo. Addison comes by whenever she is up then helps with the baby and housework so I can get a shower, work, or just relax.
I considered what I could do now and had a brilliant idea. The high school was just a few blocks away so it would be easy enough to take Milo for a walk and visit Will at work. School ended at 3 but he usually stuck around a bit afterward in case students needed help with anything so I could get there in time to surprise him.
Once my mind was made up I slipped into a comfortable pair of leggings and a long blush pink blouse with a lightweight zip up hoodie. I decided to baby wear Milo instead of using our stroller, tucking my freshly changed and fed almost 2 week old into the fabric so he rested against my chest. I had a gray backpack to use as a diaper bag which was loaded with two sets of spare clothes, diaper supplies, a bottle, and everything I needed for breastfeeding. I slipped my wallet in as well and grabbed a bottle of water for the side pouch.
The short walk allowed me time to think about everything that had changed in the last few weeks. Addison was so excited for her classes to start on Monday, especially since her friend Dustin was free today for a trip to the beauty supply store so she could get some needed tools and learn some basics. Will had essentially moved in with me, though he still had some of his work clothes at the other apartment. Our walls now had new framed pictures including one Addy took of Will, Milo, and me within minutes of when he was born.
Nothing solid had been discussed in our relationship, mostly because exhaustion is difficult to wade through, but I didn't feel like I needed more than what we had. Will is a loving father. He relishes each moment he gets with Milo, especially skin to skin cuddle time after I nurse. For now I was happy to soak up the time we had without defining anything.
I checked my phone and noticed school would be out in about 20 minutes by the time I arrived. There was security at the door and I smiled while approaching, a hand protectively against Milo's back on the beautiful October afternoon.
"Good afternoon, Miss," one of the security guards at the doors said with a soft smile. "Can we help you with something?"
"I was hoping to surprise Will Farnsworth if that's okay. I can register in the office if you can just point me in the right direction."
They shared a look and peeked at the bundle wrapped in front of me. "You must be Sophie?"
I grinned and nodded, "Milo is sleeping or I'd give you a better look at our little love."
One of the guards opened the door for me and gestured inside. "I'll take you to the office. The Principal will want to meet you and this baby boy we've all heard so much about."
