Revelation - Love - Challenge
The lamppost above the generator cast its beam upon us as we attached the final wires. Jessica and I exchanged glances, a hint of laughter bubbling up past our dried lips. That was the third generator, and I could spot only one unlit lamppost farther into the forest - which meant we were one generator away from escape.
Time was not our ally; we were sitting ducks under this spotlight. I hastily assisted Jessica to her feet. I had managed to find a moment to tear another piece from my tank top, leaving nothing to cover my stomach. Still, I used it to wrap Jessica's injuries and utilized a piece of her skirt to fashion a makeshift bandana around my head to cover my missing ear. We resembled a pair of bandits, and amidst the trauma, the thought of that sight almost made me laugh.
Heading toward the last generator, we spotted a totem. Recalling my previous connection with it, I considered gaining another revelation. I shared this idea with Jessica, and we made our way to the glowing skulls.
Placing my hand on the totem, I was once again thrust into the Huntress's sight.
I saw the forest, dark trees emerging and receding as she strolled along the riverbank. I heard her haunting humming, the promise of death as she pulled an axe from shadows. As her gaze settles ahead, I saw she was looking at Tyler.
I pulled back, panic gripping my chest.
"She has Tyler."
RESOLUTION
I couldn't allow her to take Tyler, not when we were on the verge of escape, not like this.
I couldn't let Jessica finish the last generator by herself - not in this condition, I had no idea how long she'd be conscious for.
We headed to the generator together. I could only hope for Tyler to remain alive long enough for us to get the door open.
