Going on what are considered dates, Vernon and Dino doesn't believe that they are dating.
Vernon stood in front of his closet, contemplating his outfit. Despite his usually calm demeanor, he couldn't shake off the nervous energy buzzing through him.
"It's just Dino."
He told himself, trying to brush off the feeling. He eventually settled on something casual but nice, then grabbed his keys and headed out.
Dino, meanwhile, was sitting on his bed, scrolling through his phone. He glanced at the time, realizing he needed to get ready.
"It's just another outing."
He reassured himself as he pulled on a jacket and checked his reflection. With a deep breath, he left his room.
They met up at a quaint cafe downtown, a place they had frequented many times before.
As they greeted each other, their smiles were warm but tinged with an unspoken tension. They ordered their usual drinks and found a cozy corner to sit in.
"So, how's everything going with the choreography?"
Vernon asked, stirring his iced coffee.
"Good,"
Dino replied, his eyes lighting up at the topic.
"I've been working on some new moves I think you'll like."
"Can't wait to see them,"
Vernon said, genuinely excited.
"You always come up with the best stuff."
Their conversation flowed easily, like it always did. They laughed about shared memories, discussed their latest interests, and debated over trivial matters.
To any outsider, they looked like a couple on a typical date. As the evening wore on, they decided to take a walk around the city.
They visited a bookstore, tried out a new dessert place, and eventually ended up at a quiet park.
Sitting on a bench, watching the sun set, Dino finally voiced what had been on his mind.
"Do you ever think... people might misunderstand our outings?"
He asked, avoiding Vernon's eyes.
Vernon chuckled softly.
"You mean, thinking we're dating?"
Dino nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"I've thought about it,"
Vernon admitted.
"But it's not like we're actually dating, right?"
"Right."
Dino agreed, though a part of him wished he could deny it.
